It occured to me to take a picture of the project a bit late, I had already remodeled the foal by the time I got to taking this shot.
As you can see from looking at the mare, this sculpture is rather hideous initially. When my husband proudly plonked this monstrosity on my art table, I aksed what do you want me to do with that? Yuck.
But since it is a nightlight and Karli’s room in done in unicorns, I thought perhaps I could salvage it. And since it only cost us a quarter, if I screwed it up somehow no big loss.
This is what it looks like completed. I still plan to repaint it, and gold leaf the horns and hooves, but I’m going to have to wait until tomorrow to do that.
Anyway, let me know what you guys think.

Big improvement, huh? They were so ugly before, Melody has me spoiled when it comes to unicorn anything, it has to be really good quality and detail to influence me to buy it. I don’t just get things because it is a unicorn.
Same for dragons too.
These guys aren’t perfect, or near close to Melody’s level of detail, but at least they aren’t ugly anymore.

Yeah, the original of it was ugg…lly! I also painted the unis pearl, and used interference on the manes and tails, the colt has purple and blue and the mare has purple and gold. I also gold leafed the horns and hooves and painted the eyes. Tomorrow I will seal them, and then take another pic for you guys.
I really feel they look tons better, I don’t understand how the folks who made them originally actually got them to sell, because to me they were too ugly to grace my home as they were.

I just call ’em like I see ’em! *grin*
You have to admit, that first pic with the head of the mare was not attractive at all. Ugly, ugly heads! Can you tell I hated the heads? LOL!

Yes! I understand that! I went looking for a gift once for someone that likes dragons (before I found this heaven!) and all the ones that I found were pourly done… so I drew one instead! They loved it! π
