I’m sure this has been discussed on the forum somewhere, but I did several different searches and can’t come up with anything in the huge pile of threads. What sort of materials do you use to fill in chips on Windstones? Even if you have a link to the appropriate thread I would appreciate it!

I use Apoxie Sculpt. I bought it online, I don’t remember from what online website, but if you google it, it will probably come up with a few for you 🙂

I too highly recommend Apoxie Sculpt. It’s relatively easy to paint over, very strong, and I haven’t noticed any shrinkage as it sets. I didn’t like the place I ordered mine from so I won’t recommend them, but I know you can get it on Ebay or direct from the manufacturer. There’s several sizes and colors you can order. I purchased the 1/4lb and had enough to do small repairs on several pieces with plenty still left over. Not sure how much you’ll need.

Thanks so much for the tips & suggestions, guys! I never was sure what to use. I’ve got several old pieces that have a few little chips out of them, and I knew I wanted to fill those areas in but wasn’t quite sure what I needed. This will definitely help! 🙂

I also use Apoxie Sculpt. I ordered twice from Aves (see the link in Lokie’s post) and had no problems with either order.

I can also tell you that Apoxie Sculpt is what Kyrin uses for repairs.

I understand that apoxy is a mixture… that you have to mix it with water and such? Or are there different kinds (like kind you just go out and buy it as a modeling clay, no mixing needed).
                        Or am I mistaking something?

Apoxie sculpt is a mixture. You don’t mix it with water though. You mix equal parts of the two compounds in the package.

Apoxie A gets mixed with Apoxie B

They both come together in one package

I don’t like mixing them >.< they stick to my fingers and nails

Ah, then I will continue to stay away from it.

ah, it’s not that bad, just me complaining 🙂 it washes off without a problem

it really is very good, I’ve patched up quite a few little chips on almost all my pieces (I buy a lot of chipped ones for the price 😉 )
