Very good question Ski, very thought provoking.

Cosmetic surgery is fine for corrective issues, burn victims, or for “quality of life” problems like breast reduction (back pain, etc.) Although, I have very mixed feelings about for purely ascetic reasons.

I’ve seen quite a few shows showing the before and after. People, generally look nicer and the biggest change you see is how people feel about themselves. I wish we didn’t live in such a society, but it does exist. I think if someone wants to do it, and nothing else will make them happy, then go for it. They just need to be aware of what can happen, especially if the job is botched or if infection sets in.

At one time I toyed with the idea of a breast enlargement (couldn’t afford it, so it wasn’t an actual choice – more like a “what if”). I then watched one of those shows that showed what they do in surgery and also how the patient looked during the healing process and well, needless to say, I will never have one done. It cured me. Beauty wasn’t worth that grief.

As for graduation gifts, no way! (I personally think you should have to be 25 years old before getting plastic surgery.) Aside from life altering cases, i.e. burn victims, people should have to save up for their surgery. If they still want to burn that kind of money for a nose job, etc, then they must really want it and have earned the right to have it.

I know a lot of people may not agree, but this is how I feel.

On a related note, as part of her cable subscription my mother in law gets on demand, and there is a section that is supposed to be funny and show old, weird things from the 60s and 70s on TV. We were watching ads from the late 50s to early 60s for ladies undergarments, and you could tell just as today that they put the most attractive ladies on there that they could. This was before the technology and makeup effects we have today. The ladies were imperfect, and had some curves- much different than today’s near anorexic stereotype of what a woman should be. They were very pretty, but today would be considered overweight. It’s sad.

That’s me as well. As for brest implants for a graduation present I think it’s ridiculous. I know my chest size got larger during college and just after. Give the girl some time to grow and develop.

          Reduction 😡

Unless they are truly so much in the way that you can’t do anything or you are getting constant back pain.

Please do not destroy your breasts!
(I consider implants destruction as well)

Breasts are one of the things that makes life worth living. Cleavage makes gowns look so much better. Women should have curves! Don’t fight it, its natural .

I would help but I am just to tired to get out of bed today~

I have large breasts and the only way I can have cleavage is if I wear a corset. No matter what bra I wear I just can’t get that “baby butt” going.

Just wondering what you guys thought? Thought of getting any? Already have it? What about parents who get their daughters implants for graduation presents?

No thanks. Heck no. Heck no. Pathetic.

Thank you for all the opinions. When I talk to smart women, it makes me feel better. 🙂 I am someone who looks at the TV and wishes she didnt have cellulite. Yes, I am weak and I love buying the tabloids that show off the celebrity flaws 🙄 😆 But sometimes I am just proud of what my body can do and I need to remember that. I am sure people who were born with no legs would love to have my chubby gams. I suppose we are all blessed in some way, depending on who is looking at us. Guess we just need to learn to feel that way when looking at ourselves. (For those who dont already.)

Ditto. I dislike makeup because it makes me feel greasy, and because it’s a nuiscance to put on.

And Koishii, I agree with Ski – you are pretty.

lol, thanks guys. I agree with you. to better explain what I meant, Pretty when compared to the Top-Model type women you often see(there are a lot of them in california) and if you were to view things that way. I’m very used to people and even guys viewing females as pretty when they were make up, curl thier hair, and whear fascionable clothes. Although I think they are missing a lot of nuts and bolts in thier head.

one guy we know, an older gentle man asked why I do not where make up.(my mom and I were sitting at a table with him and his wife. they are in thier 60’s)

I replied that it was too much of a hassle to put on, to take off, it looks so fake when you see a person up close, and I feel fine with how I look..why would I?

he said,” we were created beautiful and it is a way to enhance our beauty.” mind you he was not being argumentative and had a calm but very loving voice tone.

and I siad” if we are created beautiful, why do I need to enhance my beauty?” His wife smiled and siad something to the affect of,” exactly what I have been trying to get through your head.”

I’m the same GB. make up feels greesy to me and after taking so much time to put it on(I am a person that wants to get in the car and GO!) I feel silly to take it all off. My sister on the other had wears make up and experiments with colors and shades. She can look very pretty with it to.

I know I’m not pretty, and since my husband loves me for who I am, I don’t much mind. He’s the only one I’d want to impress anyway! I’ve never worn makeup (well, I’ll admit to a little bit of cover-up makeup when I was going to speak in public once) nor dyed my hair or anything like that either.

I wear make up but not much. People at work will make a statement: You are wearng make up today! (I wear make up EVERY day! 😆 ) I think its funny, but the trick to wearing make up is to make it look like you are not wearing any at all. I learned that from the Jessies girlfriend on Full House, and have lived by it ever since. 😆

I rarely wear makeup and have only dyed my hair once, just for the hell of it. It’s nice to see there are other women like me who just want to GO. Makeup can be fun. I got to be a model for a Set/Film make up course and got Glam, Scifi and Gore done. That was fun! (ever wonder what you’d look like with a bullet hole in the middle of your forehead? 😀 ) I’d also rather be my unique self rather than the ‘cookie cutter’ girls I see. They all wear the same makeup, have the same streaked blonde hair, wear the same type of clothes… blech.

I’ve never dyed my hair and I don’t want to. I do wear makeup very occasionally – maybe a dozen times a year, to church or something. But I don’t like wearing it every day because aside from the greasy feel and the time it takes to put on, I feel uncomfortable with the people staring after me… 😳 😆

I can understand a little make up now and then. I have worn it and some times I will for special times also.

I do wear lip gloss, my lips dry out real fast and that thick lip gloss just helps so much.

I also have died my hair, i did it with my sister because it was something she did, and i thought I would share something she likes to do. Oh my. I died it almost metalic copper/orange! I had to have another die put in to tone it down. it is almost grown out….half way there. NEVER AGAIN FOR ME!
