I’m still a little surprised by how much I have in common with so many of you. 😮 Thanks everyone for sharing! 🙂

If you happen to see this purpledragonclaw, if I may ask, what type of video games do you play?
July 12, 2008 at 3:50 pm #720567I can reccommend tons of stuff but it all depends on what your into? Action, Comedy, Romantic or a mixture of them 😉
Here’s a few…
Love/Comedy/Really deep story – Fruits Basket
Action/Comedy/Good Plot – Trigun, Fullmetal Alchemist,
Romantic, Action – My Hime
Romantic Comedy – Midori Days ( really messed up concept, but was still really good) Love Hina
Same as above, but more drawn out (lots of fun filler episodes) – Saiyuki (not reload though, blah!)
Really Cutsie, but an ending that doesn’t make you want to punch the creator – Elemental Geldade
Just a mess, but a really EPIC mess! – FLCL (Fooley Cooley) Deadleaves, Those Who Hunt Elves
Very dramatic and serious – Wolf’s Rain
Okay, you’ll just want to kill yourself because it’s SO TRAGIC! – Saikano, Grave of the Fireflies
WTF is going on?!?! – Azumanga Daiho, Excel Saga
blood! BLOOD! BLLOOOOOOOOD!!!!! – Elfen Lied
Mecha, Mecha, Mecha! – Neon Genesis, Burst Angel
Hmmm… I’ll add more when I think of them 😉

So Wolf’s Rain is good? I was considering buying it at one time (though that will have to wait) but I couldn’t find anyone who’d watched it already.
Good description for Excel Saga and Elfen Leid… very good for Elfen leid… 🙄

Ooh, I’ll have to watch some of those. The ones I’ve watched from your list, I’ve liked, so I’ll have to see if I agree with your other recommendations. 🙂
Oh, and trying not to threadjack, really…

Maebnus, your fancy purple Harley, too, please! 😀
Ditto that request! Mirrako, I’d love to see your & your hubby’s bikes too! (I’ve got a brand-spankin’ new 2008 purple Sportster 883 Custom… And you’re a veteran compared to me… I’ve done nothing more than starting my monster! :D)And GB, I’ll try to get a pic of mine in the next few days… I would’ve today, but it was gray and threatening to rain when I went to check on it. 😕 Now if only I could get a hold of someone who’s willing to teach me how to work the darn thing… I’d love some extra practice on the basics before I take my class in a week.

Thank you for these recommendations! I like a variety of different things, but one of the most important things to me is a decent plot. This is why I don’t watch a lot of American television anymore. I also like having the fantasy element involved somewhere, but that is not entirely necessary. The series that you’ve recommended that I recognize – Full Metal Alchemist, Wolf’s Rain, and Trigun – I’ve really liked, so I’ll definately take a look into the others that you’ve mentioned.

Oh, this is your first motorcycle? I feel for you! 😆 I laid my Buell down the day I got and broke two footpegs (driver and passenger). You’ll do the same a few times, I guarantee. But you learn fast if you drive a lot.

Yikes! I hope I don’t do it that soon (or ever, really, but somehow I think that’s unlikely). But yes, it’s my first. Of course, I didn’t start with anything small or anything … noooo… I had to get a 600lb monster. The roads are slick here (crushed coral is like ice when wet, and unpredictable rainshowers happen all the time), so laying it down is very possible. I just hope it’s not in the middle of traffic (esp. oncoming traffic during a right turn )… or during the test, since that’d be an automatic Fail :?.
July 14, 2008 at 7:14 pm #720573Since my husband has gotten home from Iraq my biggest guilty pleasure is the fact that I don’t have to get up first thing in the morning when Gavin does. It’s nice to get to sleep in a little bit.
As for other guilty pleasures….well let me put it this way I’m a pack rat. I’ve gotten better at adding to the “stuff” but still it’s hard to curb the buying impulse when it comes to books and movies.
We have three book cases…one that houses things other than science fiction/fantasy (like art, philosphy, martial arts, high school year books). The other two shelves are all scifi/fantasy though. The paperbacks are stacked sideways so I can get more books to fight and I have a second layer forming on the outside of one shelf. There’s everything from Xanth to Star Wars to the Heralds of Valdemar to Anita Blake. I’d say an easy 2/3 of the books are out of print and I’ve read almost all of them. Oh and that doesn’t count my old children’s books that are hidden in a dresser in Gavin’s room for when he gets older (he doesn’t have that many clothes to fill up two dressers – might as well keep the books somewhere safe 😆 )
We have nearly as many DVDs. I have numbers on these because I’ve inventoried them recently: 279 movies, 72 tv series boxed sets and 52 anime DVDs.

600 pounds, huh? My Beastie weighs 470 – I can just lift it with the help of adrenaline.
The times I laid it down were just in the beginning, due to the weight. I learned to drive on my brother’s 50, got to use his 650 a couple times – and then I bought the massive Buell and it was a totally different feeling. My brother prides himself on the fact that he’s never “dropped” a motorcycle. (He flipped one in an exaggerated endo once, but that’s a different story.) If you start out right away on a big bike, you’re going to wreck it a few times. That’s why it’s not smart at all when folks buy themselves the racing machines as first bikes. Lay it down once and you can replace the whole side protection plastic. And that costs.
A buddy of mine drives a Hyosung 650 racer – he bought it as his first bike too. The protectors are so scratched and beat up he finally just took them off and now drives the bike like a naked.July 17, 2008 at 3:20 pm #720575Greater Basilisk wrote:If you start out right away on a big bike, you’re going to wreck it a few times. True. It’s probably not the smartest to start with what I have either, but I have always liked physical challenges. Now I just hope I haven’t gotten over my head. (I’ll get a better feel tomorrow – yay, first day of practice!) If I had been smart about it, I would’ve started with a scooter. But that’s not really my style… and I can always borrow Hubby’s little 90cc to buzz around the area (literally… it sounds like a weedeater) if I feel like it.
July 18, 2008 at 5:29 am #720576Well, I don’t blame you one bit. I started out with the big stuff too, even though everybody told me to get a 125, or at least an old bike whereit wouldn’t matter if it got a bit more beat-up. 😆
