Anime and Manga! I’m slowly amassing my collection. I have to say I really enjoy the Fan Scanlations of the manga more than some of the US releases. The Bleach officially released books are translated oddly I’m finding 😕 I also Cosplay (dress up as an anime character!)
Besides my favorite ones, I’ve really gotten into:
Shakugan No Shana (currently getting into this one)
Ookami ga Kuru!
Dragon-Half (oldie but just reading it now!)
D. Gray Man
Ouran High School Hosts Club (the manga and anime differ, plus there is a bit more to the manga with both … same with Fruits Basket)I am also a gamer. I enjoy table top RPGs, like Vampire the Masquerade, Werewolf the Apocalypse, etc. Didn’t do more than a few D&D games. Mostly stuck to White Wolf’s games, or a few random ones. Also used to play Magic the Gathering. Still have my cards, but haven’t played in years. I used to work for a gaming store. Hehehe. I do play computer/console games, but mostly they are reserved to things like Final Fantasy type games, Super Smash Bros., or Legend of Zelda stuff. Used to play computer games for the old stuff like the old Duke Nukem and old Prince of Persia stuffs back in the day (when most people didn’t have a computer at home in middle school – think pre-internet).
I also like Opera and Broadway shows (sorry… Wicked isn’t in my to see list. The soundtrack just seemed… lacking compared to others I’ve heard, so it’s a lower priority). I also like Romany music.
I also am a closet historian and naturalist and I like studying languages. I have many strange hobbies. Like going to Ren Faires…. or knife throwing.
July 7, 2008 at 6:26 am #720552Dang, drag0n! Is that your room or a DVD store? 😯
Kyrin, ditto on the books! I just got some of the books I ordered and now have a pile of half a dozen sitting by my bed waiting to be read. I love reading, and always have something along to read, no matter where I go or what I’m doing.
Other pleasures, guilty or no: I love to sing, on my own, in the car, while doing the dishes or ironing, with a CD or the radio… When I’m driving at night on my motorcycle I’ll sing to myself. It keeps me awake, and I can really beller forth because no one can hear me over a Harley engine. 😆
As for movies, I adore the old cartoons and black and white films from the good days where you didn’t have to worry about being assaulted with innuendo, bad language and crude situations.July 7, 2008 at 5:29 pm #720553Still can’t believe I’ve found a group I have so much in common with!
Love to read! Love to sleep! Love kettle cooked potato chips! Love dipping fries into chocolate milkshakes!
This Forum is a guilty pleasure, too. I come here and read whenever I can, but especially when I’m irritated about something–it calms me down, and almost always has me laughing within minutes! (Not supposed to be here now ’cause I’m at work–SHHHH!)
Singing, dancing, shooting, throwing knives, riding my Harley, riding my horses–all of these are guilty pleasures anymore because all the ‘have to do’ things have taken all my time.
Anyone else fall over at night, just completely exhausted because of all the ‘have to do’ things, while all the ‘love to do’ things wait until tomorrow?

Sure seems like it sometimes. Love to do’s can also get expensive. 🙄
July 8, 2008 at 12:58 am #720555Ok, drag0n, I just looked at the first page and realized you posted a pic of your anime collection. Um, I so need to pic a weekend to come out. I want to oogle! My coworker thinks it is scary that I can pick out some of the box sets too!
Hehe… I need Inuyasha!
July 8, 2008 at 4:30 pm #720556😯 😯 Holy cow, Drag0n… I thought I had a lot of anime. I only have about a third of that. Well, unless you count what I’ve downloaded. I’m jealous though.
Erm… guilty pleasures…
Sleeping in. I sleep more than most people I know, even the sick ones. Partly because I can, partly because I don’t function well on < 10 hrs a day.
Anime. But that’s somewhat obvious, if you know anything about me (maybe the avatar would be a tip-off). I download WAY more than I buy (I wish I was that rich!), but I buy what I’ve watched and thought was good. Even if I’m not sure if I’ll watch it again. I want to show my support for the good stuff with my purchases. I’ve only ever bought one bootleg, but that’s because it’ll likely never be officially subtitled (Macross 7). I’m currently obsessed with Prince of Tennis and Naruto.
Anime music. Most of which I really don’t know the words to, but I sing along as best I can anyway. The few songs I know by heart, I have looked up translations for. Fushigi Yuugi music makes me insanely happy, so there’s a lot of that on repeat.
Musicals. Even cheesy ones. High School Musical is a somewhat recent one (but not the sequel… I don’t like the songs). And you can find the original Broadway cast version of the Phantom of the Opera always nearby.
Kid’s books. Young Adult, whatever. When I hit a bookstore, I briefly check the Fantasy section to see if a new book is out in the series I read, but then I go get lost in the kid’s section. I’ll spend an hour in there, just reading the descriptions to see what sounds appealing. If I don’t walk out with 3-4, I’ll at least leave with one and another list of future buys. Jenny Nimmo’s Children of the Red King series is rather good, btw.
Post-Its. I’ve gotten better at not buying them (mostly due to the pitiful selection here), but I used to buy some practically every time I went to the store.
Ditto with pens. They’re all different… designs, inks, tip size… and then there’s Sharpies.. oh, geez, I won’t even get started there. Whoever decided that it was a good idea to sell those huge rainbow packs is EVIL!
Hey, hey, Mirrako… what kind of Harley do you have??

Do you have any series that you recommend?

Whoa whoa whoa, how’d I miss this? Mirrako, you sound like my kind of person! What do you shoot- any specific discpline (skeet, IPSC, etc.) And what Harley do you drive?
July 10, 2008 at 1:55 pm #720561well, my guilty pleasures would be books and yarn and sheets. Guess I’m pretty guilty….
I love to read! I need a library too, or someone to come along and steal the books I have read already. I have a hard time getting rid of them, even tho I never read a book twice….
Yarn & sheets, well they go hand in hand. I’m VERY tactile and love the feel of soft and smooth stuff. I’m forever just touching yarn at a knitting place and if I love it, then I buy it never knowing what I’ll do with it. Hence my enormous yarn supply…My favorites so far are ANYTHING from malabrigo and ofcourse cashmerino from debbie bliss. Oh, just lovely yarns! And I have thing for luxury bed linens, BUT they have to be white or ivory. My favs so far are a set of white 500 thread count I got from Linens and Things.
Did I mention the thing I have for towels or socks(if I could wear a brand new pair of socks everyday my feet would be so happy) or sweaters or or or …. 😆

I’m still a rookie (2 years on street bikes) and don’t get to ride as much as I’d like, but it’s still awesome. The first day out, we were being paced by a bald eagle. I was smiling so much I thought my face would crack! 😀
Thanks for asking!

Hi, GB! I have a 2003 teal/ivory HD Sportster Roadster (the tall one because I’m all legs) and my husband has a 2006 blue Dyna Lowrider.
Currently have a Remington 597 (.22 rifle), Ruger .22 pistol, and a Springfield .45. The .45 is my favorite. Grew up plinking with my Dad and brothers. Don’t get to go much anymore because of WORK, trying to sell my house, and leaving for Myrtle Beach on Sunday for a week. Too busy to sleep! 😯
July 11, 2008 at 6:05 am #720564IMHO, plinking is the funnest discipline out there because there are almost no rules. 😆 Unfortunately, there’s almost nowhere here in Switzerland where you can do it for lack of room…
Could you post up a pic of your and your hubby’s HDs? I’d love to see them!Maebnus, your fancy purple Harley, too, please! 😀
July 11, 2008 at 4:37 pm #720565In one word WINDSTONE

I LOVE RANCH!!!!! Salad dressing , dip you name it!!
I know it sounds strange but one of my favorites is also Pretzels dipped in cream cheese or Salame wrapped around cream cheese.
