So are you going to go anywhere or do anything interesting?

So are you going to go anywhere or do anything interesting? Oh I love it too! But, no, no plans. My kids are too old to go trick or treating, so they have parties -we just sit home and do nothing. We live in an area where we don’t get any kids coming around either. Our house isn’t close enough to neighbors to be inviting.
People at Windstone used to dress up each Halloween, I wonder if anyone will do that this year?? and if they did, How could we tell? 😀
Oh PLEASE PLEASE everybody post pictures of your Halloween costumes!! I miss having Halloween!October 18, 2010 at 12:20 am #829253Melody wrote:drag0nfeathers wrote:Anything fun planned?

Awww. You should go to a party! That’s what I’m doing. By the way, I was inspired by the wings you made Chessie. So, I’m making my own costume this year…a dark angel, complete with homemade wings. Pain in the…. Well, it’ll be cool. 😉October 19, 2010 at 2:55 pm #829254You guys at Windstone should all dress up and post pictures too!
Nobody ever dresses up at work, but this year I got a contest going that management approved cause it will make some money for the store and get morale up.
Each person who wants to wear a costume donates $5.00 and management is going to pick out their favorite costume at the end of the day. Whoever wins gets half the money that was collected and the other half if going to be used for store activities and what not. Maybe pizza or cake or something.
You guys could have a contest too! The winner can get the booty! 🙂

October 21, 2010 at 4:32 pm #829256We aren’t doing anything this year, at this point either. We have friends who have come the past two years with their toddler so we could go out trick-or-treating. Not so this year 😥 We might have a party to go to though. We were lazy last year and dressed up in our Medieval garb. Easy since we are members of a reenactment group 😀

Pain in the…. Well, it’ll be cool. 😉You can use the crumby store bought variety of wings as a base to build your own wings on! If you pluck off the turkey feathers and turn the stiff board part upside down they actually resemble the shape of real wings. The trick is to find something that you can make the long pinions out of. I used the long feathers from a peacock’s tail ( the peacock’s REAL tail feathers). They are perfect for this.October 22, 2010 at 8:15 pm #829258Melody wrote:You can use the crumby store bought variety of wings as a base to build your own wings on! I actually made them from scratch! They WERE a pain in the rear. But they’re beautiful. Unfortunately, I didn’t have access to any real nice long feathers. I ordered some natural black feathers from a farm that collects naturally shed feathers. Then I made wire and wire mesh frames, covered them in batting, and then covered them in black fabric. I then glued the feathers on the top surface and double secured them by sewing them on. I hot glued the feathers on the bottom surface. I didn’t want them to look too perfect, but more “fallen angel.” They’re not as cool as the ones you made, but still pretty darn cool, if I must say so myself! Just gotta stabilize them and put straps on them and they’ll be done.
October 24, 2010 at 3:38 am #829259I am going to three different activities with my two year old. One is at the zoo, one is at our church, and one is just going around the neighborhood. She is going to be a ladybug, and I might be boring and not wear anything-or just a pair of wings. I don’t know.
