Hello everybody. I have loved the Windstone creations and the art of Ms.Pena, for many, many years :-). But it never occured to me that there could be a forum like this. I have been unable to stop looking at everything on the Windstone website and pouring over everything there is to read.
A quick bit about my history (as it relates here); I don’t remember exactly what year I was when I first saw those amazing dragons (and simply HAD to have them!) But I would guess mid eighties. I remember seeing the gorgeous green Male Dragon in Travelog (a store in Sarasota). I started saving every penny. I was one little kid who was always welcomed into that shop of very fragile things, cause I was always there to admire, appreciate, and when I could, buy.
So I’ve got a very meager collection compared to most of you. THey are well-loved, and among my very most precious possetions. I’m afraid that nearly all of them have their damage, but I wouldn’t trade them for the world! (It’s fantastic that there is so much info here on repair!)
Looking at all the new colors and critters, I can’t even find any of mine (colors anyway LOL). And I suddenly feel that old familiar obsession creeping up on me…
My dragons are these guys, a brown Young, a brown Male, a green Male, a color I can’t exactly find Emperor, and another color I don’t see exactly Scratching.
I also, sadly, have a badly injured white Male Pegasus. He is in pieces, has been for a few years evr since my falcon had a temper tantrum all over him :-(. But I could nevr feel confident enough to try to repair him, and I certainly couldn’t throw him away!
The other very precious piece of art I have that I feel like I must mention is the most gorgeous black and white print I have had for probably 20 years easy, that is by Ms.Pena. I have loved it ever since I first laid eyes on it. I don’t know what it’s called. I have searched the internet high and low and I have nevr been able to find it, or anything about it. It has a Pegasus, with a rider, and a falcon. I LOVE IT!!! I would love it if someone could help me learn more about it :-).
Okay, I need to get back to reading here!February 21, 2013 at 12:25 pm #893608Welcome! If you can, do post pics – we might be able to help you nail the color on your emperor.
Read my books! Volume 1 and 2 of A Dragon Medley are available now.

I will definitely try and post pics, but I am very bad at that kind of thing.
I know I can post them on my fb page, and set them to public so anyone can see them. I used to do that on my goat forum before they updated their forum, I could post a link right to the pic in my posts. But I don’t know if that would be frowned upon here. I can certainly give everybody interested my fb name LOL.
Another question about pics; what type of light is best to use? Should I wait till mid-day and get pics in the natural sunlight? (I happen to think that sunlight looks lovely on them)February 21, 2013 at 12:51 pm #893612You can also check out the “Windstone Identification” thread. It’s in the General Windstone section of the forum.

February 21, 2013 at 1:03 pm #893613Thank you! I will do that right now 🙂
February 21, 2013 at 1:18 pm #893614OKay, cool! My Scratching Dragon is a Jade! I am quite sure now. There was a thread that had fantastic pics of both Emerald and Jade Scratching Dragons. And besides him being a very similar color overall, he has the gold markings of a Jade. This is really quite fun :-).
My Scratching guy is the youngest of my collection, but he’s easilly over 20 years old.February 21, 2013 at 2:07 pm #893615You are very welcome! I’m glad you got some information. I’m sure now that you have found us that you collection will grow exponentially. 🙂

I am afraid that you are very likely right. I never even imagined all the color varaition I see, nevermind all the new dragons etc…
I can’t even tell you how cool I think it is that the same, original people are still doing this! It’s just incredible!
I think I’m going to attempt to put Humpty-Dumpty back together again, to the best of my ability, today. He’s been broken for SO long! Over ten years, I think. I know some of the pieces aren’t still with us. But after reading an excellent thread on repairing a Dragon, I feel inspired 🙂February 21, 2013 at 5:12 pm #893628You are very welcome! Drag0nfeathers does awesome work and it’s her repair thread you read.
Good luck and welcome to the forum. 🙂

February 21, 2013 at 10:04 pm #893641I have to say that I think it’s rather disfunctionally sweet, the way you guys are so supportively welcomeing me into my impending poverty LOL. 🙂
Is there a support group? LOL (cause I’m gonna need it!)
I’m sorry I didn’t reply earlier, but I’m afraid that my computer desk is currently covered in dragons. After looking at all the amazing pics here, I have been looking over my babies with a very critical eye. And after reading a few repair threads I went to work on my poor Peg. I can proudly say that he’s standing on his own again. It’ll still be a while before he can fly though. I took some before and after pics. I’ll post them on fb in a bit.
Assuming I’m going to be far too inept to manage to post the pics here, I cordially invite anybody who is interested to check out my fb page. My name is Meridith Manning and my avatar is a pic of me on my black horse, Pasha, holding my first ever red-tailed hawk, Dawn. Sadly both of those friends have passed away now, but I’m the nostalgic type :-).
Anyway, I’ve been going over my dragons like a crazy woman, fretting over evry scar.
Thank you all so much for the warm welcome! -
