I got to go out whale watching. I payed for my mom to go with me. We saw humpbacks, Seals, Otters, Jellies, and a SUN FISH! So far i got most of the whale photos fixed up.
We first ran into a mother and her calf, then a lone whale, then 4 humpbacks hanging out together! that is unusual for them to do when they are not breading. There was another mom and calf, they two others that may have been males because they were horsing around. One of them even made some singing noises. Not a full song, but the thrumming whistles. you could hear it from the boat. He also breached twice! I missed the shot because we thought they all just dove and were not expecting a breach. Here are the some of the photos I go so far:
mom and baby diving next to one another:
mom and baby surfacing:
another mom and baby diving:
this was a lone male. he actualy lifted out of the water some to look at us:
I got lots of fluke photos! I would like to try and identify them:
these two are kinda big. they are progress shots of the whales as you see there flukes lift when they dive:

For this one, this is in Monterey Bay and I chose the Charter called Sanctuary Cruises. They boat is owned by a green peace activist so the captains respect the whales and do not chase after them, and if too many other boats show up, they leave so as to not stress out the whales. You simply purchase your tickets online for this one and print out the confirmation page they give you. drive down to the dock on the day of your cruise and some one is there to greet you and make sure you have printed the right slip showing you payed. then you board the boat.
