Hello, Windstone Editions Forums! Well, hello to everyone on the forums, that is. I’m a big Windstone fan and have been collecting them (slowly) for many years. I’ve been lurking around the forums on and off for a few months now and decided it was time to just break down and join. So now I’m going to ramble a little about myself, as one is expected to during an introduction.
I’ve been a HUGE Windstone fan since I saw my first dragons at a little novelty store in my local mall. I was about 13 years old and thought they were the most beautiful things I’d ever seen. I’ve been a huge fan of dragons in general since I was old enough to differentiate them from dinosaurs. Even as an adult, my sketchbooks are filled more often with dragony art than anything else. I think I still have the little Windstone catalogs I would take home from the retailers. I remember oogling them and wishing I could afford such treasures.
It was my father who bought me my first gargoyle when I was about 14. It was the roaring sentinel and I loved him fiercely. He was beautiful! The next year he bought me the guardian dragon gargoyle and was well on the way to making it a yearly Christmas tradition. Sadly, the only local dealer closed their doors the year after, and that was the end of the tradition. It was many years before I would be able to add to my collection again.
Now that I’m an adult with disposable income, I’m back to collecting! 😀 My collection consists only of gargoyles at this point. I’ve always wanted a dragon family but never got started. So that’s what I’m trying to do now. I’d like to begin gathering them up, but I have to decide what color to go with. I’m quite partial to the Black Gold and the Silver, though I think I’ll have to go with the first since the silvers seem to be hard to get a hold of.
I also have some PYOs that I’ve just never gotten the nerve up to paint. I purchased a griffin from the first batch that was produced, but I just never decided how to paint him. Sadly, he’s been sitting on a shelf, primed in black paint, collecting dust for years. Seeing everyone’s beautiful work on the forums is inspiring me and this may yet be the year I actually paint my little babies (I also have both PYO dragons)! As an artist, I’ve got a lot of little projects waiting for attention, but I think this one deserves some attention. 🙂
Okay, I think I’ve rambled long enough. If anyone is still reading, I look forward to being a part of this lovely community 😀
January 31, 2012 at 6:29 am #871903Welcome to the group! 🙂 I collected gargoyles too when I was a teen, but I had never seen the Windstone ones until after I join this forum last summer. I hope you find the inspiration to paint your babies! It’s addicting!

February 9, 2012 at 10:23 pm #873100Thanks for all the warm welcomes! 😀 So nice to be here among such nice people. And since my original posting, I’ve already added two dragons to my collection. My loving husband bought me a silver spectral dragon for our anniversary this month and I found a male dragon in the old peacock color. Now I need to find a mate for him. Oh man, I’m totally hooked!
