OUCH That’s painful I hope everybody gets rid of it soon.
June 4, 2008 at 4:21 pm #710417*offers air-hugs* ๐ Sorry to hear about your bad day Purplecat. Having sick pets and little ones is hard because they cant always communicate properly whats wrong, or dont know that something even is wrong sometimes.
Ive luckily never had poison Ivy, but while I was in Switzerland, I got into something called Burning Nettles, that Id never heard of or seen before. With all the walking we did, wouldnt you know it was on my feet. ๐ GB gave me some stuff that was natural, made from a flower or herb I hadnt heard of that started with an A…and it helped it HUGELY. Maybe she can comment on what it was?
Were you able to snag any good Windsones lately? New boxes at the front porch are always good remedies ๐June 4, 2008 at 5:10 pm #710418WolfenMachine wrote:*offers air-hugs* ๐ Sorry to hear about your bad day Purplecat. really? wow..usually I dont get it at all, but this time I have not escaped..I hate having stuff wrong with my hands, maybe it’s just the artist in me. I’d rather have gotten it on my wrist..or forearm…or leg…. ๐Thats what my mom mentioned. I personally couldnt tell you, but mom is supposed to be an expert at such things. ๐

June 5, 2008 at 12:59 pm #710424well, it’s drying up on my hands, i think it’s because I use small amounts of bleach in my dishwater….probably. Donovan still has it pretty bad, and Aurora seems to have a cold..she’s still not feeling well. Now…as if I needed more chaos….Vivacia seems to have started the “mine!” phase of childhood…where she thinks everything is hers and she’s not sharing. Which means of course a frequently swatted bottom, I think it’s a normal part of being a two year old. Sigh, I cant stand that stage… Worse, I cant stand parents that let their children get away with that stage…so they become brats and then eventually adults with a “mine!” complex. ๐
June 5, 2008 at 3:56 pm #710425If memory serves me, poison oak and poison ivy cause their rash via an oil (urushiol) that binds with skin proteins to create the super-itchy compounds that make folks itch and break out. If a person is lucky enough to have skin proteins that fail to bind with the oil, then they don’t break out. By the same token, destroying or altering the oil component of the combination could theoretically tame the reaction. I wonder if anyone’s tested chlorine or bleach on urushiol? It sounds like you might be onto something there! ๐
June 5, 2008 at 3:59 pm #710426Well, Chris, who is horribly allergic to the stuff, hasnt really gotten it this time. I swear all he has to do is think to hard about the stuff and he breaks out. We think the difference is that he now swims laps every day at the local gym, we think the chlorine at the pool has protected him somewhat…we’re not sure, but that’s our theory. ๐
