not my day I suppose. Donovan’s poison ivy is not getting better…in fact it seems to be much worse, as it’s spread down his belly to his underwear area…he’s still on the steroids..and at least his face isnt as swollen anymore. I’ve spent the whole day saying, “dont scratch, wash your hands, dont rub it on your sister!”
Aurora is sick now too..she’s running a temp of 103..and we’re doing the old ibeprophren/acetaminephin swapoff to keep it down. We think she may have some molars coming in, but either way, it’s sparked her also having a bad breakout. She’s really pitiful, and it makes me feel so bad I cant do more. Poor thing, I’ve carried and held her as much as I can to comfort her, she wants to cuddle when she’s sick. I hate the pitiful, halfhearted “wah,” cry that she makes….
We went out to eat, because i’ve not had time to cook dinner…and although I fed the kids, I was too busy to grab anything myself, so I was really hungry. Go figure that my milkshake is a bizarre rotted strawberry flavor…which is really bad because it’s supposed to be Jamoca…I return it and they give me a new one…which unfortunately tastes the same. Then I open my sandwich just to find out they forgot the meat on my sub…well crap. I’m just too weary at this point to go back and complain again, I ate my crappy sandwich in silence.
I’m just dead-tired and depressed…
🙁

June 3, 2008 at 11:30 pm #710409Was reading up on poison ivy & it said that new blisters can appear for up to 2 weeks 😥 . It also said that people that people who are sensitive to poison ivy can also have a reaction to mangoes 😯 as they are both from the same plant family . Another interesting snippet was that the oil that causes the reaction can be transferred on animal fur . Nasty nasty stuff 👿 .

June 4, 2008 at 3:04 am #710414From personal expieriance, Chlorine from a pool helps the itchy-ness. If you have access to a aswimming pool, or a gym with a pool, a good ten minutes in the water helps the itch, it dries out the weeping rash.

Only problem with that suggestion is that public pools specifically forbid people to get into the pool with any kind of rash.
Another solution would be to use a small amount of bleach in the tub water, helps quite a bit, so does epsom salts.
I feel for you guys, I really do.
I had a spray too that helped lots, hang on, I’ll see if I can find it…Found it!!! HC Derma-Pax…works wonderfully and almost instantly. I got mine at Long’s drugs. It’s hydrocortisone spray, but seems to work better than the other brands, not sure why.
Good luck and I hope you guys feel better, also the Tecnu I mentioned before works really well on soothing the itch if you wash with it frequently, rinse the area with cool water and pat dry, it helps soothe it and clean off the oils the help spread it. When I have a breakout of poison oak, I usually wash with the Tecnu about 6 times a day, use the spray in between and soak in the tub just before bed with a little bleach.
Hope these suggestions help.
