late but here!! Hiya! 😀
September 7, 2008 at 6:12 am #718410Thank you for your kind welcomes and pardon the late reply.
Regarding the queries on my work I have an exceedingly outdated Deviant Art account, http://falco-sparverius.deviantart.com/ which gives some idea of the stuff I do.
And pardon the formality of this reply, it’s an odd default ‘tone’ I have when posting late at night. 😛

Beautiful work! Do you ever sell it?
And, your summation of rights is pretty spot on. There are no EXACT rules in place really, because by defining exact legal rules that in of itself creates more legal problems for Windstone, which is understandably confusing and frustrating. But for the most part you’ve got the idea!
The final word on these sorts of things is always John and Melody. I’m just trying to help where I can since they tend to be so busy! 🙂
Copying existing paint schemes that are unique to Windstone is illegal- don’t do this (or if you do, make sure no one sees it. >_> ).
Repaints are heavily discouraged because of legal problems and confusion, as it creates a lot of work and problems for Windstone and the folks that work there. It is not illegal unless you are intentionally trying to misrepresent the piece (for example, but not limited to: repainting to look like an existing color scheme) but it is such a problem for us that we ask that people not do it… in other words, heavily discourage repainting. I’d politely request that photos of repaints not be shared, if you can help it. 🙂
Naturally occurring patterns and coloration on real animals belong to no one, and as long as you are not copying someone else’s PYO intentionally (e.g. purposefully trying to make a perfect replica of someone’s existing piece) then do as you will!

You should update it. The metal work is really interesting 🙂 And the copper kestrel and gryphon/snake posted earlier in this thread are beautiful.
