My grandmother used to fix boiled pigs feet and we all like them.

I couldnt get over the fact that it was pig skin. I did manage to get past that horrific phase, and now I can eat my bacon sandwiches, bacon pie, bacon pizza, bacon soup…
So are you saying that bacon is pig skin 😕 I know it’s not but the wording is a bit confusing. 😉
It basically is. Its just layers of fatty pig flesh with a little meat thrown in for crunch.
Ick I hate bacon with loads of fat (the streaky kind; typically American from my experience in the States but they sell it here too). I like the really lean stuff and trim off any iota of fat I can see since I hate the taste of it. Someone once told me they liked to eat the fat from a pork chop.. ugghh…
My mum likes jellied eels though. I like typical London Pie & Mash but without the eels. 😕
I like what we call “faggots” which may be considered disgusting to some… minced pork liver and pork meat. There’s a pub near to where I live and the chef there is a butcher and he makes his own faggots. They’re delish. I won’t touch any other kind of liver though lol.

Lol >.> @ you calling it “streaky bacon”. My cousins from England do that too. His idea of bacon is a regular piece of ham. Personally, I love me some streaky bacon. XD MMmm, BLT.
I can’t really think of anything we eat that I’d call “disgusting”, but…such things are cultural. My friend from Hawaii, whose family is of Japanese origin, eats raw fish…and stuff. I couldn’t stomach that. It’s a mental thing – simply the knowledge that I’m eating something raw would make my gag reflex kick in (believe me, I’ve tried). I’m sure that if I’d grown up eating it, and thinking it was a great thing to eat, I’d love it. Which makes me wonder what WE eat that he would think was gross…
I know that my sister’s husband (he’s from Germany, his family is Iranian – to give you an idea of his tastes) thought our Watergate Salad was the most disgusting thing he’d ever seen. It’s light mint green and fluffy (it consists of mostly whipped cream), and he refused to eat it. But once he tried it, he loved it. XD Go figure~
July 15, 2008 at 5:11 pm #663723Back in the day (this is a story from my Grandparents to give you an idea) the German relatives came to visit them in Canada, and my grandma served corn on the cob. They said that it was “something that they feed to the pigs”. But once they tried it, they loved it.
It’s entirely cultural, what’s gross and what’s not. Personally I like a little bit of raw fish. 😀 A little bit, mind you…

I consume the animal* parts the rest of you would deem gross. Necks, all innards, heads, feet, tails, tongues, skin, bones, blood. Shows like Bizzare Foods and Fear Factor have always amused me.
* haven’t delved into munching on bugs, but would be willing to give it a try

Yeah, I could never do that. o_o; I remember watching some late night show on Skinemax once called Shock TV 2000…they had a segment of a European version of Fear Factor on there, and each person got a little divided tray full of nasty stuff they had to eat. One of the things was a sheep’s eyeball. When the woman they were focusing on put it in her mouth and started chewing, I almost barfed. XD Just from the sound. It still makes me sick to think of it. e.e; I don’t think I could eat a bug!
July 15, 2008 at 10:41 pm #663726I’d try chocolate covered bugs, given the chance, but right now I’m hoping I never get the chance! 😀
Decipher that one if you will… 😛
August 30, 2009 at 2:47 am #663727The weirdest thing I’ve seen my brother eat is peanut butter and honey sandwiches. I dunno, I love honey but it seems a bit much with PB.
The grossest thing members of my family ate was in my Grandma’s house on my dad’s side…he used to tell me she made kidney stew, and the smell from boiling the kidneys to clean them was horrible.
I’m sorry but I don’t eat organ meats that are designed to clean out toxins…EWWW. This includes, but is not limited to, liver, kidneys, intestines, genitals, etc.
