I eat chicken lever several times a week, with several kinds of food. I eat it in prevent for my periods; these once-a-month periods are very hard for me in many ways. I loose lots of blood, I feel painful enough to vomit and I have huge headaches. I take strong painkillers to heal my pain, while the chicken lever brings me enough iron to prevent me from falling unconscious (because of “iron level” dropping). As a matter of fact, since I put chicken lever in my menu, “iron droppings” have cured to about 70%, I would estimate. 8)
Try the Hearts as well, also talk to your Pharmacist about Iron Pill’s they work wonders for me, my family has a genetic predisposition to low Iron levels, Male and female, and not in anyway linked to our Menstrual Cycle. The end result was that with his Brain Bleed my son was born with Low Iron Levels, so much for the “Fact” that babies are automatically born with a high enough Iron-level to get them through to 6 months of age with no supplementation!! 😯 And you will have to ask for them since they are technically “over the counter” but regulated for safety, like certain cough medicines, though not (as far as I know) because they can be used for illegal drug manufacturing.
February 22, 2008 at 7:11 pm #663677Iron pills? I’ll think about it. Does it cost a lot?
And what is “brain bleed” exactly? Is it serious?
February 22, 2008 at 11:33 pm #663678My best friend and roommate puts boiled eggs in his tuna…I think it is gross/weird. Tastes okay though, but still looks wrong.

February 23, 2008 at 1:52 am #663679buttered toast dipped in hot chocolate, my friend made me some today when I was at her house and it was surprisingly good! My family also eats a lot of venison (my Dad hunts). It’s not wierd, but I know a lot of people who think it’s wierd. deer liver is also supposed to be very good and I plan on trying that next time my Dad brings home a deer!

Toast and hot chocolate is one of my family’s favorites. I also grew up in a hunting family and my husband hunts so I’ve had lots of game.
Venison, Boar, Elk, Duck, Rabbit, Squirrel, Turtle (yes turtle) Geese, Dove. That’s all I can remember off hand.
I’ve also tried rattlesnake and alligator.I think the strangest things I’ve ever tried though are bee larve and chocolate cheese.
February 23, 2008 at 3:11 am #663681Ooh, I love elk. I tried bear once too. Very greasy…

That’s kinda what I think too, but I humored him and tried it anyway. Like I said, it doesn’t taste bad, those two things just don’t go together as far as I am concerned, egg salad and tuna should be two separate things.

February 23, 2008 at 9:12 pm #663684Boiled eggs with tuna? That doesn’t sound bad at all… but have you ever tried to mix vanilla ice cream with peanut butter? Mmmmmmhmmmm! Hard to beat! 😛

Actually I was rather surprised at how inexpensive the Iron Pills are, both Here in Alberta and in Labrador. Usually less than $5 for 100. Last time I bought them I think it was actually $4.99.
A brain bleed can be very serious, it can kill but if taken care of right away it’s stupidly easy to “fix” and get over, well for Babies anyway, older people, especially elderly don’t usually do so well. It’s basically one of those stupid little “big” things. I don’t know if I can explain it better than that with out going into a lot more detail. 😕

You don’t have to. I recognize what we call in french a “hémorragie cérébrale”. I just thought it was ALWAYS lethal… 🙄

LOL my family makes basically the same thing. We call it left over bear stuff because our grandmother first made it at a campout when a bear ate most of the food and she made a meal out of whatever was leftover.
I would help but I am just to tired to get out of bed today~

Great story 😆 We make that for breakfast quite often. Only with fried eggs 😆
I like salsa on mineApril 12, 2008 at 5:51 pm #663689Did you guys know that barnacles are edible? Because I didn’t. It took me a while to figure out how to get to the edible part, and I only found out they were barnacles afterwards. They’re not half bad.
