Well, this turned out about as well as it could, really. They were the ones to decide that you didn’t have to be in the wedding: that was pretty much the conclusion you’d already reached, so it hopefully hurt less and it also saved you a rather awkward statement to them. You don’t have a dress that you wouldn’t wear. And if they now have a no-kids rule, that gives you the perfect out to not attend. It’s still an uncomfortable situation 🙁 , but some of the major stressors have been defused. I’m glad of that.
Hmm, given the price of dresses these days, you could choose a rather nice Windstone with that money. Buy one you’ve been eyeballing. 🙂
