Last night we addopted a simply GORGEOUS and LOVING ball python! She was rescued by the scoundrel that we work faire with, from a couple that were having an apparently nasty divorce and neither of them wanted to take care of the snakes (for months). She (we think it’s a she…) was completely emaciated, and didn’t even have the muscle mass to keep her ribs from trying to topple over when she moved. She is now very healthy and gaining mass quickly, and we will continue to love her and make her a fat little cow 😆
I have NEVER seen a python like this, she is incredibly docile, curious and loving. *she loves to crawl around faces * We will post pics post haste!!! She is SOOO beautiful! I’ve not seen such pretty markings!

March 26, 2007 at 5:14 pm #555824I find snakes fascinating but know almost nothing about the proper care for one. I’d like to get one someday after checking out several library books. We went to a local demonstration at our library last year and I loved the hognose snake and the enormous ball python they brought named tippy (I think). She was twelve feet long! The Indi Zoo wasn’t so great this time around but the snake exhibit was awesome. The snakes and emus were the only exhibits we really enjoyed. We petted the emus for half an hour although they kinda remind me of one of the raptors from the jurassic park movie with the way they move. Creepy but awesome.

March 26, 2007 at 5:20 pm #555826Congrats, Nirvana! That’s great. I’m so glad the snake got a great “forever” home.
Wouldn’t it be funny if she ate a gryphon chick? Joking, I’m just joking. Of course I would not want anything to happen to the snake.

Hognose and Gopher snakes make GREAT starter snakes! They have the best temperment, and are usualy very docile. They are also really easy to take care of if you get them healthy.

March 26, 2007 at 6:54 pm #555831Does she have a name? I felt bad calling her “the snake”.
March 26, 2007 at 7:10 pm #555832We’re calling her Midge for now. Louis likes Runt tho. hehe
March 26, 2007 at 7:29 pm #555833Cool, Nirvana – and good for you for rescuing here. Any pictures?
March 26, 2007 at 7:30 pm #555834Wonderful that she is getting a second chance and I’m sure she couldn’t have found a better home!
March 26, 2007 at 8:03 pm #555835Aww how nice of you to take care of her! ^____^
