October 3, 2007 at 9:43 pm #614692glad to hear you gto the good news you have been waiting for. How is the Cat taking to the soft paws??
October 4, 2007 at 3:16 am #614693He tried to get them off for the first hour I had him home but gave up on them. Now I don’t think he even knows he has them on. He is more upset that I got him a new cat collar with a jingle bell on it. Now I can hear him wherever he goes and he can’t sneak up on me. I ordered more soft paws off ebay for when one of these fall off. He has the clear ones on and I want some colored ones next.

Well that’s good 🙂 Hopefully the problem is solved!
October 4, 2007 at 3:35 am #614695I hope so I would HATE to hear that the kitty would end up homeless or with an abusive family. Did the doctor say that would be OK

October 4, 2007 at 10:58 am #614697It was one of the transplant nurses that said I would have to declaw the cat. I cornered her one day to ask her more about why I would have to do it. I wanted to know if they wanted all his paws declawed and she told me no only the front. I said you “know they can still scratch with the back?” and she just looked at me. Soooo I’ve come to the conclusion she doesn’t know what she is talking about and I’m not going to declaw my cat because of it. He seems to be a happy camper with his new kitty claw covers so I’m just going to stick with those. It just makes me mad that she doesn’t know what she is talking about and tells patients they have to put a cat thru that. I wonder how many other people she told to do that and they went ahead and did it. I tried to tell her about the soft paws as an option for other patients that have cats but she is a little spacy and I think she forgot everything I told her.
October 4, 2007 at 1:11 pm #614698I know when I was diagnosed with leukemia, I was not allowed to be around cats for a long time. Dogs were fine but my oncologist said no cats. Luckily we didn’t have any, or else we would have had to get rid of them. Because of my weakened immune system, I was susceptible to infections that came from cat scratches and bites.
If the nurse doesn’t seem to know what she’s talking about, then maybe ask your husband’s doctor directly. He/she would know more about this current condition anyway, and what’s best for him. At least you would know for sure then. But it sounds like you’ve got it under control anway with the soft paws. He’s probably feeling a lot better now that he’s home 🙂
October 4, 2007 at 1:26 pm #614699He’s not home yet. We are waiting for the transplant nurse to come up and go over everything with us so I don’t know what time he will be getting out today. I had to borrow my mom’s car since its a 4 door and he won’t fit in the back of my mustang. They said he isn’t supposed to ride in the front seat of cars because of the shoulder strap. He didn’t get any sleep last night because he was so exicted to be going home. When I was still in bed at 7am he was mad saying “come up here and get me!” I had been up all night with my dad trying to replace the ceiling fan in my bedroom. My old one finally gave out so we went to Lowes and got a new one. The only problem was the guy that wired the house before we bought it had no clue what he was doing and did it all wrong. My poor dad was so mad but he managed to get the fan up anyway. I’m so glad he knows what he is doing.
October 4, 2007 at 1:29 pm #614700It’s wonderful that you have everything under control now. It’s been proven that having a pet you love and who loves you will speed up the healing process. *hugs*
