I’m not too surprised that Texas gets snow. We used to live in Tulsa, OK, and I remember snowy winters there. Of course the average snowfall there is only is 8.5 inches each year.
January 28, 2009 at 9:46 pm #750163Our last good snow was 2000 when we got 24 inches over night…

lol… with the wind that we have been having… why not? But its more like dirt and not sand… it sucks.

hmm that’s not really normal though… we usually get more than that.. but it’s been pretty dry for the last few years.. I posted pics somewhere, when we had like 5-6 inches of snow.. and I have a picture somewhere that the snow had covered my entire car..
my friend in Italy didn’t think we got snow here either.. he also thought we rode horses to school.. it was kind of cute that that was what they thought.. of course when I sent the picture of snow all over my car.. his sister wanted to come see.. LOL
January 28, 2009 at 11:36 pm #750166At least you have less than we do. We just gained another 6-8 today (and a nice crusty layer of sleet on top). Not bad for a well timed vacation day!

I remember that… all together it was like 26 inches totaly.. and I went out to friends in my little front wheel drive car.. and did fine.. and all these people in big ole SUV’s were stuck on the side of the road.. and everything…
small front wheel drive is better than any big honking SUV any day.. 😆

Unless they don’t plow your roads and the snow covers the top of your little front wheel drive car. I should know. I ended up buy a SUV simply so I could get out of the house after the county “forgot” to plow my roads. I still have my little car though for most of the time. :yes:Looking for Blue Fawn Baby Kirin
Sanguine Oriental Test Paints, kinglet
Sun Dragon Koi #3January 29, 2009 at 1:27 am #750169well.. they hadn’t plowed the roads at all.. and that’s why all the SUV’s were stuck… the snow was almost halfway up the doors..
but it also comes down to the driver.. if you know how to drive in snow you’ll do fine and don’t need all the 4 wheel drive and all that… and if you’re like the people around here.. they can’t really drive one clear calm days.. much less days with snow…

We had so much fun – SUVs pulled out other SUVs from huge snow drifts, and I had to leave my car at work for a week and go home with my dad. Others weren’t able to get home and had to leave their cars in the road. Someone even had their car pretty much cut in half by a snow plow when they finally got the plows out. It snows quite regularly here, but for some reason our city doesn’t handle it very well.

I-40 was horrible! Ice so thick on it that it had its own ice pot holes…Ya see, the people with the big 4×4 SUV’s think that their SUV’s are invensable when it comes to snow and ice… 😆 BUT front wheel drives handle better on snow and ice anyways since you are pulling the car and not pushing it… with a lead foot… 😮 🙄 😆 Another reason 4×4’s end up on the side of the road… they think that they can FLY don’t the roads in snow and ice. CRAZY! I have a 4×4 and trust me… I drive very slow on snow and ice. 😉
February 4, 2009 at 5:10 pm #750172Yay! A snow day! The boys are itchin’ for one; we came within two degrees for the schools to close. It has to reach -20 f and it was -18f… None of the kids in town were happy…

February 5, 2009 at 6:12 am #750173Negative 20° Fahrenheit? I don’t want to live where you guys are!
They’re predicting snow here for the weekend. *muttergrumbledoggonewinter*February 5, 2009 at 4:09 pm #750174It’s DANG cold here… *brrrrrrrrr* Soda Springs has it’s own little micro climate. We have flora and fauna here that are found in alpine climates. Summers are nice since we only have to use the air conditioner 3 or 4 times, but during winter I wish I could just hybernate like mama bear. Some days I don’t think I’ll ever thaw out. Loki and Pixel bring home all kinds of interesting prey. Last week they kept leaving ermine on the porch…
