You know what, that just gave me an idea. Do you have any idea about construction?
This is going rather off topic and it’s kind of long, but it might interest you.My Grandpa here – Opa – created a humanitarian foundation that gets about 75% of the profit which proceeds from renting out the apartments he builds. (Generous, huh?)
It spends several million dollars a year building schools, hospitals, water wells, production halls, etc. etc., anything that can be built, in third world countries. You said before that after the Army you’d like to do charity work.
Well, this foundation, the Leopold Bachmann Stiftung (I’ll call it LBS for short; no website so I can’t link to it) builds all over the world, from Africa to South American to Haiti to Vietnam. Opa would really like a general supervisor – someone who can go to all these places and make sure the money is invested well, that building is progressing properly on whatever project, and that the people are getting the help they need. This supervisor would travel all over the world. Right now this supervision trips are done by an ex-banker in Opa’s employ, but he’s busy enough without them… Supervising alone is a full time job. This is very spontaneous, but who knows – maybe something could come of it? 😀
My sister has a Masters in International Business. This sounds like something she might be interested in. She loves to travel. She has been to Africa to volunteer to teach kids. She hates the job she is in right now, if Ski doesn’t mind and your Grandpa needs someone (don’t want to step on toes)…I can run this by her and give you her info or visa versa.Go ahead! It sounds like Ski’s next six years are booked. If she wants something similar when she’s done, as I said, the LBS will probably have grown enough to need another traveller. The Masters is already a good preliminary. Finance management is part of it, right? A little knowledge of construction would help, too, but that can easily be learned.
June 23, 2007 at 7:30 am #590965Oh how cool Dragoness! That would be awesome! And yep, my next 6 years are booked. After that, I want a house where I never have to move again and a horse or two. If I happen to have a hunka-hunka Swiss man, too, that will be fine.
I will keep my eyes open girls!!
Snap, you are right. I am stingy! 😆 I could find you a nice shot glass. 😀June 23, 2007 at 12:37 pm #590966skigod377 wrote:Oh how cool Dragoness! That would be awesome! A woman drove me to drink and I didn’t even have the decency to thank her.

Shot glasses don’t fit a whole lot of drink. 😕
June 24, 2007 at 12:23 pm #590971Besides, Ski didn’t say anything about driving you….she’s just giving you the glass 😆

Sorry didn’t see this until now. If you want to PM me any info that would be good as well. What she needs to do, what you are looking for etc and contact info would be helpful.June 28, 2007 at 7:05 pm #590973Okay. Looks like I’ll have to ask for details myself, though. I’m going again on Monday. I hope I can PM you about it after that – though I’m not sure how much after since I’m flying the next day.

Yep, I am proud that she was able to get her masters. I wish I had that much motivation and dedication to do that, but I figured out a long time ago that college isn’t for me. -
