Today I decided to go to walmart and find a nice short black bookcase to put my old warriors in. The curio cabinet I got from Ikea will not hold them and I wanted them displayed on something nice. I found a nice cheap bookcase for $20 and headed for the checkout. When I get in line I notice my uncle two people ahead of me. He didn’t notice me and my husband kept telling me not to say anything since, well, my uncle and be a dick. I didn’t listen and said hi to him. He looked at what I was buying and said “buying more junk?”. π I’m soooo sorry I don’t have the money to spend on the super furniture you have all over your house! I mean if I had two incomes and no medical bills then maybe I could have an in ground pool and money flowing from my butt too! I didn’t know what to say so I just stood there and he check out and left. My husband just looked at me as if to say I told you so. I guess a “Hi, how ya doing” was too much for him to say.
May 3, 2007 at 8:39 pm #570220Hmm wonder if he really is that well off or just makes himself look that way? I have some family that are that way too! And the best slams can be very unobvious I mean he was shopping at Wally World himself! And our British freinds will probably know what I mean when I say they’re often just like “The Bucket Lady” from Keeping Up Apearences even if no one else does!! Sigh Mother is addicted to British TV, Comedy and Mystery in particular, but can I get her to watch an episode of Dr. Who?

Dude, I have a lady that I work with who is exactly like “The bucket lady”.
Purpledoggy, you should definately of crammed that bookcase up his you know what. hehe If he is going to be rude to you after you say Hi, then screw him (as you can tell I had to deal with the bucket lady today). hehe
May 3, 2007 at 9:25 pm #570222Who is this bucket lady? I feel left out, lol.

YAY!!!!! I’m not the only one on this side of the pond who knows!!!!!!!My Aunt is one of the main “Bucket People” I have to deal with, and she’s been that ever since my mom can remember, and winning the lotto in the ’80’s didn’t help, not even when she lost it all due to putting all 12 million in the SAME BANK!!!!!
May 3, 2007 at 9:33 pm #570224Try and find an episode of a show called Keeping Up Appearences She’s the “main” charecter and you’ll instantly know what we mean! π It’s an old British Comedy show. Usually on PBS or whatever they call themselves now.

I’ve only caught a few episodes of Keeping Up Appearances, but I totally know what you’re talking about. I love Are You Being Served and I’ve recently gotten into watching Monarch of the Glen. Poor Archie! Hurray PBS!
May 4, 2007 at 7:28 am #570226Im sorry π My uncles are pretty well off, but they are nice about it. Im the snooty one in my family, but I will never forget where I came from. I would not say a word about the way my family lives! How ill mannered!
May 4, 2007 at 12:20 pm #570227Exactly. What makes him so much better when he was right there in the same store buying things? Next tiem you see him there, ask him what type of “Crap” he is buying. π π π
This is exactly the reason I don’t talk to half of my mother’s side. They grew up with money and they were fine, but when they got older, they turned into snobs…Good riddance! πΏMay 4, 2007 at 2:32 pm #570228I’m thinking along the same lines as you, WSC. I think if someone said, “Buying more junk?” to me in the same CHECKOUT LINE at the same STORE as me, I would say, “Yeah. You?” And have been smug about it. That’s just me, though. I can be pretty sarcastic sometimes.
May 4, 2007 at 3:51 pm #570229I find that most of the people who need to hit you over the head with their wealth or supposed status are actually suffering , inferiority complex.
But you don’t need to feel sorry for them, because they feel the need to hurt your feelings.
I shall refrain from posting my probable responce to said Uncle. Just be glad that you are not miserable. I’ll recycle broken furniture from off the side of the road, if I can use it , people really want to put that down. Maybe it’s their shame for being wastefull, maybe they just need to look down on someone to feel, good.
(Art Slinger goes out to garden to talk to plants)May 4, 2007 at 3:57 pm #570230Oooo I love old furniture! My couch is older than me!!! π π
Just ignore your Uncle. Be glad you don’t need him in your daily life. Obviously, you’re doing just fine without him. πMay 4, 2007 at 4:04 pm #570231WindstoneCollector wrote:Oooo I love old furniture! My couch is older than me!!! π π
