Our 26 year old pony, Moon, is near the end of his life. You guys asked in the topic for the radio show how our critters are doing…I can’t possibly talk about that without choking up. Loosing this old guy is unbelievably hard for us. He is still alive, but we are doing end-of-life support now. He isn’t suffering, but we are.

Aw, I’m really sorry to hear about your pony Melody. It must be utterly heartbreaking to lose an animal that’s been part of your life for so long.

I know how you are feeling…my first two mares passed away due to complications of old age. One to colic due to problems chewing properly with worn out teeth and the other just to general discomfort and degeneration.

It’s really hard to say goodbye, I would say losing Cricket was/still is the hardest thing I’ve even had to bear. Cinnamon was not as hard, since we saw it coming a long way off and were able to prepare for it.

Just try to treasure the time Moon has left and love on him as often as your busy schedule will let you, and when he lets you know it is time, you can let him go. I hope when the time comes that his passing is quick and painless and that you all have the opportunity to tell him goodbye.

I’m sorry that Moon’s lifetime is coming to its end, but at least you were together for most of it and have many wonderful memories

Lots of hugs and support through this difficult time.

          Kyrin

Kyrin expressed it so well. We have, and have lost, equine as well.

Thank you for the kind thoughts!
Moon is still on his feet this morning, and seems cheerful and pain free, so all is well today. This has lifted my spirits.

At least you know you gave him the BEST life he could have
26 years is a VERY long time for a horse
