Thanks for the video! Im gonna show it to my troops! As for the criminals…. Whack em.
February 14, 2007 at 4:47 pm #539037Well since you have the lowest crime rate, then that should mean they are doing something right.
I think Animals and humans are different. The animals that bite people still shouldn’t get put down unless they are really sick. The animals who get killed just because there are too many out there is definately wrong. I don’t think it is right that they have to suffer because a human was being stupid.
Criminals should be punished for the incorrect choices they make. Unfortuanly there isn’t alot of room for them in prison so some of them get out of it.

That “something right” is keeping the citizenry armed. The citizens are the militia, every soldier’s got his assault rifle at home unless he’s at an obligatory practice shoot. But there still should be a death penalty.

Well my bf would probably agree with that. I am gonna get my gun permit hopefully soon, so I will be protected if he isn’t around..but then again…I do have swords and other weapons.February 14, 2007 at 6:15 pm #539040Congrats! Any weapon is great if it’s in working order. Guns just happen to be by personal favorite (because Leopard 2A6s and AH-64 Apaches aren’t available for private buyers…)

LOL
Honestly, I think that whatever the crime the punishment should be equal to it. If they steal, cut off a hand, if they molest, take away sexual organs, kill…be killed. But if it is a death, then it must be doen the same way as the crime they committed. i.e., Shoot someone in the head, get shot in the head. Slice someone up into little peices, be sliced up (but while they are alive). It will make some of the lesser deviants think twice aobut what they were gonna do, if they see someone who did it suffer what they did unto themselves.
This country is far to lax on its criminals. 👿February 14, 2007 at 6:22 pm #539042Greater Basilisk wrote:Congrats! Any weapon is great if it’s in working order. Guns just happen to be by personal favorite (because Leopard 2A6s and AH-64 Apaches aren’t available for private buyers…)
Thank you. Yes, I want a smaller revolver because I have small hands and it is hard to use my bf’s guns. He would probably appreciate the guns you are talking about.
February 14, 2007 at 6:22 pm #539043I agree on the last statement, WSC. And the capital punishment ideas are Old Testament Biblical, but… Hey, I’d be happy if they’d revert to work prisons and chopping off hands for stealing.

That would definately make them think twice before they did any criminal activity and we would probably have less criminals.February 14, 2007 at 8:09 pm #539045dragonessjade wrote:Greater Basilisk wrote:Congrats! I missed this reply! Sorry for the question, I know guns don’t really belong with Windstone and this isn’t the Firing Line forum, but I’m curious – what are you getting? I just bought a Colt Police Positive. Very pretty little lady’s revolver. It’s in .38 S&W instead of .38 Spc, though, so I’m having a hard time finding ammo.
Oops! I’m rambling. Sorry!February 14, 2007 at 8:42 pm #539046You know, my bf’s dad is into guns. He just sold some pistol that he had bought 20 years ago (Or something) Well, it turns out that there were only, like, 2000 of this pistol ever made and he sold it for $800. Kinda cool since he bought it from a guy for $50. The guy who bought it now has 3 in consecutive order.
February 14, 2007 at 9:02 pm #539047There was a guy in Minnesota who defend his apartment against would-be robbers/attackers with a sword. They had busted his door in. He cut them up pretty good before they gave up and ran for it. It was caught on the security camera in the hallway. He got off for self-defense.
February 14, 2007 at 9:12 pm #539048Unfortunately, then there is the issue of when a court system is corrupt. We’re dealing with legal issues involving my brother (got in with the wrong crowd and was set up – drug related… stuff was hidden in his car), but now he has to deal with a court group for rehab stuffs. He’s currently at the whim of the person in charge who changes her mind every other day and contradicts herself constantly, even contradicting his contract. It’s incredibly frustrating, but he’s not allowed to say anything. If he does, he gets sanctioned or is being ‘insubordinate’ for even questioning. Dealers and those with violent crimes are getting off with a slap on the hand to go about what they were doing to begin with. I agree that my brother (his middle names are ‘naive’ and ‘sucker) caused his own problems and made his mistakes, but having to go through all the legal stuff is really showing just how starkly lopsided things can be, especially if the people in charge don’t care except for making a name for themselves or for money in their pockets. He just got a sanction for talking to a cop to report seeing a crime happening without filling out a form we were unaware of. It’s downright infuriating.
I do agree that the punishments should fit the crime. However, for some crimes, you better know for dang sure that the person convicted is without a shadow of a doubt guilty. Some punishments can’t be reversed. I do agree that violent criminals be dealt with harshly. Convicted rapists, molesters and child abusers should be castrated/neutered in my opinion.
Also, along the same subject, another question comes in to situations (I read an article about this yesterday, so it comes to mind) of cases where children are brought up to be soldiers in war. They have no family and are brought up to be cold blooded killers. What do you do in those situations? Is it right to lock them up forever? How do you rehabiliate someone brought up to be numb? Someone who steals food who is starving and there are no services to help them (generally there are services in the US and in other industrialized nations, though there may be some areas that are exceptions). Do you cut off their hand in that case? Cases of legitimate self-defence. Some situations are far from cut and dry and are in that tricky gray area which can vary greatly.
Guess I’m feeling a little devil’s advocate today 😉 Still, I feel that some crimes just get a slap on the wrist way too often or people let off the hook for things, but there are some situations that call for more indepth look than a simple black or white answer.
February 14, 2007 at 9:46 pm #539049Good comments! I agree there are some grey areas and the need to be doubly sure the person is guilty.
I would not agree with harshly punishing a child as they are not mature enough to find a job, weigh good and bad decisions, etc. BUT. When they get older. They have the means and maturity to make the right decisions or to ask for help when needed. It’s easy to be bad, this country is all about getting things the easy way. It’s easier to sell drugs than to be a citizen. It’s easier to steal than to get a job.I think poor childhoods are becoming an excuse for growing up to be a criminal. “My dad beat me, so I’m going to beat my child”. I don’t care. That abused child is an adult now and knows, perhaps more than anyone, that violence is wrong. It’s just easy to use an excuse.
Humans are different than animals. Whether you believe in Creation or Dawin, humans are supposed to rise above the animals. We’re not really making it these days.
BTW, I have really small hands as well. My favorite firearms are my Ruger .22 (target), Browning 9mm (Belgium model is best), and Colt .45 1911. All fit my hands really well! The problem with most grips is the manufacturers like to use a “staggered clip” so the clip can hold more bullets, which means the grip will be thicker. Find a good gun that has an “in-line” clip and you’ll have an easier time!
Don’t go cheap if you can help it! Especially if you are going to rely on it for home defense.
Of course a good shotgun is great for home defense. Really, once the would-be criminal hears the ker-chunk of loading the round in the chamber, he’ll most likely buzz off. Of course then you have to chase him and you may run out of breath! 😆Sorry for the book!
February 15, 2007 at 6:06 am #539050Siberakh has good points, but I’d rather talk about guns. Just really quick.
Colt .45 is still the best pistol ever invented. I don’t own one yet, but it’s on the top of my list. My favorite pistol right now is SIG P226. SIGs are also the best pistols ever made – in terms of precision. It’s a single stack, but I hate the weak 9mm caliber. I’m glad SIGs also come in .40 S&W and .357.
And ditto those shotguns, Phoenix! I’m getting one to celebrate passing my finals – after I pass, of course. I want a fancy Benelli, but they cost about three times as much as a standard 870, so I’ll see… -
