March 29, 2008 at 3:15 am #684367Good luck on ever finding a Brown Emperor, there were never very many apparently, and when they do appear on eBay. Their ending price on average has been around $1000.
They are kind of a Holy Grail type of Windstone, along with the true Jade Emperor, which we know does exist, but we have no idea how many.
I am sure that you will be able to find the others relatively easily, eventually.
Good luck finding the pieces you are looking for, you might want to post your list onto the Wish List thread.

March 29, 2008 at 3:39 am #684370I loathe reserve price auctions, and rarely if ever bid on auctions that have them. Not saying there is anything wrong with setting a reserve price, but I don’t like trying to guess what the seller wants for it. I’d rather they just set the starting price at the minimum they are willing to accept for it.
Also, if no one else bids on the item, then your bids can’t reach the reserve price, and then where are you? Neither the seller or the potential buyer get anything, so the auction ends up being a waste of time for both parties.
How do I know, I’ve done it…my first bid didn’t reach the reserve and no one bid against me, so it ended and nada.
Frustrating.
Okay, I’m done ranting at reserve auctions…sorry.

March 29, 2008 at 3:43 am #684371Many times I think sellers set the starting price at what they want, and it gets no bids either. I like the intrigue of bidding on auctions with reserves. I love the feeling I get when the reserve is met, so if I hang in there and don’t get outbid, the item is mine. I speak from a buyer’s perspective, though, not a seller’s.

As the buyer, I found it frustrating, especially since the bidding never brought it up to the reserve price, no one bid against me, so it never reached the reserve.
So for me, frustrating.
As a seller, I don’t do reserve, I just put in what I’m willing to accept…if it still doesn’t sell, then oh well, but most of the time it does.

No worries…I totally understand what you mean Kyrin…but I just can’t take that risk with him as I already lost money on one item just last week cause I forgot to add the reserve on it.
I guess if people want him enough they will bid on him and if not than I will keep him, 😀Marzena

Actually, if you bid right at what the seller is asking, or higher, you automatically become the high bidder. So if your high bid didn’t meet the reserve, the seller was asking more than your high bid. If you’re willing to pay, you can sit there and keep increasing your bid by the minimum incriment until it says you’ve met the reserve.

Hmmm…never tried that…it’s still a guessing game, I’d rather just know up front, rather than sit there and play with it. If I have to play games, then I won’t usually bid.

March 29, 2008 at 7:34 am #684379I always ask what the reserve is. The sellers are usually okay with telling you. I’ve had one guy tell me he’d “rather not reveal that bit of information” and I told him that it makes me not want to bid on it if I don’t know how much I need to bid to win it. He told me after that. Also, if the reserve isn’t met but I was the high bidder (or only bidder) I contact the seller and tell them what I’m willing to pay for it and if they’ll put it as a buy it now on ebay. I did that with a young brown dragon. It didn’t sell as a normal auction with a reserve, so I told the lady what I’d pay her for it and she put it up as a buy it now. I think the reserve system would be easier if it told you the reserve price, but then you might as well list it in the beginning with that price? I dunno. I just like knowing. 🙂
