JSHLFKUEHFIES. I am seriously seeing red right now. I can’t even imagine the post office screwing up THAT badly and then straight refusing any of the blame!! ARGGGH!! I’m so sorry drag0n, this is such crap, you should NOT have to deal with this, and the fact that the post office is putting up a wall just makes me want to punch something. I hate it when companies (Federal or not, but ESPECIALLY Federal!!) treat customers like crap like in this case.
So I guess I don’t quite understand something you said up there drag0n – can you somehow tell that whoever stole your package is shopping around for the most they can get for it at pawn shops?
Also, a good point was brought up – if USPS can’t tell you where they actually dropped the package off, can’t THEY go back and take down names? I mean seriously, it IS a federal crime to open someone else’s mail, and if USPS can’t give you their info, THEY should be held accountable for turning these people in to the police! It’s a fat chance I know, but if the world ran on integrity rather than greed and money, USPS would do something for you rather than sitting on their a**es and saying they did nothing wrong.

This was a scenario that didn’t really occur to us– you’re right. We are all looking into giving the store more options so that things like this can prevented, if we can….

My art: featherdust.comCan you file a police report some how. I know that if these people do pawn it and you find it in the pawn store and you have a police report on it they have to give it to you if not you will probably have to pay what it was pawned for IF the pawn store people are nice.

Police don’t take stuff like this seriously unless I have proof of the theft. If I DID find it at a pawn shop or something and could get the information of who pawned it that would be a different story.
I went and rented a PO box today that I will be using from now on for any important package deliveries. Hopefully I’ll never loose ANYTHING again! EVER!!!

Well, that’s what I THOUGHT. I described it over the phone to a shop and they said “well, someone DID try and pawn a Chinese dragon statue, but it had a bird head” So I thought that must have been it. (there are TONS of people who have no clue what a griffin is, so I just thought that was the layman’s description) When I brought a photo I printed off the website and went there the guy told me it wasn’t the same thing at all and then he further described something more that sounds like a sort of Egyptian sphinx to me that was made of a sort of white and grey marble.
I looked at 4 pawn shops and 2 antique shops that also are known for buying items or taking items on consignment, but nobody had seen him. Although, one person did say “Oh, that’s a Windstone isn’t it?” and it turned out they had bought out a whole storage facility of Windstones at one point. Of course they had already sold them all. Bah!
As far as the PO goes, they just keep repeating the same crap over and over. That once the package is marked as delivered they’re job is TECHNICALLY completed and if the package wasn’t insured it’s not their problem. Hence, if I have to deal with that type of argument, I’m not getting ANYTHING mailed to my house anymore and I’m just going to rent a PO box and pick up packages directly from the source. I’m still livid, don’t get me wrong.
I was driving to work thinking (sees a guy on a bike) “I wonder if my griffin is in that guys backpack” (sees a girl with a box walking down the street) “I wonder if that girl had my griffin in that box! … I wish I had a Windstone radar!!! I could track it down like a dragon radar in dragonball z” (yes, this is what say out loud to myself while I’m driving)

I just assumed all things leaving the factory would be insured since they are so expensive.. but ya if it wasn’t insured I guess you have no recourse 🙁 Still doesn’t seem right though… if they didn’t deliver it to your address how it that not their problem… they messed up… I wonder if there is a higher up you could contact through USPS or report this event to a main regulatory office… that really stinks
I already have spoken with our post master and he said it’s my word against the theirs it was brought to the wrong house and there is no way to prove it. That the package could hav ebeen labled wrong and blah blah blah…. I just got a slew of should a, could a, would a’s.
In the future, I am requesting delivery confirmation on everyting I can’t get shipped to the PO that I buy and if the person can’t offer it, then I guess I have to buy else where. It may a fewbucks mre, but it’s better then being completely empty handed…maybe I’ll be able to actually save money now and buy something important….like groceries or a new truck, LOL!

Wouldn’t be a bad idea to make a complaint to the Post Master General (US), especially if things like this seem to happen frequently with your local USPS. I’d contact them and make a complaint. Area post masters don’t like you going up the food chain above their head, but if they can’t get their act together, sometimes it can make things move along better. Crap rolls down hill, right? Since the USPS is having such bad publicity with service getting worse, but rates continuing to go up, and they can’t seem to handle their budgets well, they don’t like having continued black eyes. Can’t hurt at any rate.
I wish you were having better luck with recovering your Griffin. 🙁 Keep us abreast of developments. We’re all rooting for you to have JUSTICE!

2. Execute service extremely poorly, cost customer money and time
3. Repeat
4. When customer is at wit’s end, sell them a more expensive service as a solution.
