Yeah, it looks almost exactly like my russet, so I think I may pass. Might get a brown one when they restock, though.
July 7, 2007 at 3:38 pm #595812I would love side by side pics of russet & violet flame… I’m hoping they really are similar, but I do see a lot of purple in the VF, so I’m still bummed I missed out on the russet/red flame.
July 7, 2007 at 4:56 pm #595813the pic looks almost exactly like my russet/flame, with the difference of the eye/stone color of course. but this will make the folks who missed the original flames happy at least! i look forward to seeing the next batch of violet flames, i hope they are bursting with real purple! i am totally waiting for those guys!
i wonder now, are the fledgies going to be on the reddish side as opposed to violet as well? or did that just happen on the curls? i want a really purple violet flame fledge!! squee!July 7, 2007 at 9:04 pm #595814I just posted this in the other thread, but I’ll post it here as well so more people can see it.
July 7, 2007 at 9:48 pm #595815I am planning on getting both violet flames just so I can see the difference.

me too.
July 7, 2007 at 10:34 pm #595817I am comparing the two right now.
This first batch of 30 Violet Flame curlies look very similar to the “Red flame” curlies (which I also called “russet” in my gallery) because they have too much red on them. However the Violet Flames have more violet on the upper part of the wings and along the neck. This isn’t visible in the photo. The gold paint is also brighter, and they are antiqued, so the the details stand out better.
These were painted while I was away, and I didn’t see them till they were completely finished. Being a lazy slug, I didn’t want to repaint them, so I figured we would sell a first, test paint batch.
Future batches of Violet flames will be distictly different from the Red flame, because they will have more of the fiery gold color on them. So if you want a real Violet Flame, wait for the next batch of these. They will look more like the colors of SPark’s Violet Flame fledgling.
There won’t be more of these reddish Violet Flames when they sell out, so if you want a rare one, get one of these.July 7, 2007 at 11:01 pm #595818oh how exciting!!! I plan on getting both, I LOOOVVEEEE flops!
July 7, 2007 at 11:28 pm #595819Thank you for the comparison pic, pegasi.
I want one of each too, of course. I ordered one of the VF1 curlies this morning. I’ll see it at Wolfen’s in about 10 days.

July 8, 2007 at 10:10 am #595821😆 That’s right. Nothing Melody makes is a flop. She could sell anything to us, I’m sure.
July 8, 2007 at 3:37 pm #595822Yay! Thanks for the pic post Peg! Guess I’ll be getting both VF versions! 🙂 Thanks for the selling the rare VF ones Melody… makes those of us w/o a russet feel sooo much better 🙂
July 8, 2007 at 4:02 pm #595823Oh ive been away and this happens! 😆
Honestly when i brought my red flame i was shocked how much Violet was on her more that then the red and when i compare her to the picture above she is just like the violet flame just with alot more violet than in the picture there even! apart from her Gold crystal on her head so im sticking with mine 8 she is my favourite. So muck violet
July 8, 2007 at 5:54 pm #595824Of course, like many others, I have to have one of each!!!!! I can post pics of the red flame, new violet flame from a few different sides once they come in.
