I picked up one of my favorite video games over the Memorial Day weekend-Drakan for the PS2
I beat it once back in….oh 2006 or so, and then lost my dang memory card in a move -_- But I had forgotten so much of it, it was like a new game! Its a lot of fun! A “hack ‘n’ slash” game. You play Rhyn, the girl, and you get to ride around on a dragon (Arok), and slice up monsters with big swords and bows+arrows, collect items for people, get paid in gold and buy more big swords 😀 My BF says its a knock off of WOW-I say its cooler 😉 He rolls his eyes and says “…whateeeeever duuude” of course he used to play WOW addictively.
I love video games, but I have a hard time finding ones I like. I guess Im too picky. Don’t like racing games (mainly because I stink at them *blush*) nor first person shooters.
Love Guitar hero and another awesome one called “Haunting Ground”
Its a survival horror game. You play as Fiona, the girl in the middle of the picture, and there is a white German Shepherd that follows you around. Its fairly realistic in that she gets tired after she runs for a while, gets scared if she sees blood, and the dog, Hewie, will follow you only if you’re nice to him. If you scold him too much, he’ll stop following you, or won’t do what you ask him to. 🙂 Its fun, but its creepy! I can’t play it too late at night 🙂
What kind of video games do you like to play?
May 31, 2011 at 10:49 pm #846818My BF says its a knock off of WOW-
*SNORT* Tell your boyfriend that Drakan the Ancient Gates came out in 2002 – 2 full years before WoW premiered! Who’s the knock off now? XD
I LOVE Drakan, I used to play it all the time. I now only play it to enter the cheat codes so I can run around killinating everything XD Arokh is great, and it always used to make me laugh when I’d call him, he’d land without me noticing so I’d call him again and you could hear him say “I’m right here..” in a semi-annoyed tone. The spiders in the basement in the first town used to creep me out a LOT! Great game 🙂
I’ll have to try the second one you mentioned, it looks really cool! I used to play the Silent Hill series until it just creeped me out a little too much XD
I’ve been playing around on Rift online recently, and then yesterday my friend directed me to a game called Minecraft. It’s got terrible graphics but it’s surprisingly fun – it’s a sandbox game, which means you can do whatever you want! You’re plopped down in a randomly generated (HUGE) world and you can run around gathering supplies and carving yourself a home in a mountain or underground or wherever, the only thing you need to know is to have shelter by nightfall, because that’s when the monsters come out! It’s surprisingly addicting! I’m currently working on building a house in the sky XD
You can check it out and see a preview here:
You can play the original for free (not as fun, but still entertaining), or you can buy the game for around $20.00. If anyone would like to try the real game, let me know and I’ll give you my user name and password. Games are saved on each individual computer that you use so there’s no fear of messing up my game 🙂

I also dislike ‘escort missions’ (where you have to lead a useless non-playable character around and protect them, carry them, etc), as well as turn-based games. So annoying.
I mostly play on a PS3 (I actually have it on pause while I take a break right now, haha) – these are my most favorite games on it (so far) :
Red Dead Redemption (+ Undead Nightmare)
Prince of Persia
Little Big Planet (both 1 & 2)
Darksiders
Flower (downloadable game)
Hoard (downloadable game)For my PS2, I still love Okami and Taiko Drum Master.
I have a Wii, too…but the only game I really got into on it was Legend of Zelda : Twilight Princess.
Oh, and for my Nintendo DS, I <3 any Professor Layton game.
June 1, 2011 at 3:49 am #846874Currently in my video game tote is Portal 2 (freaking love this game), Borderlands, and Dead Space 2. I only wish I had more time to play video games, as I could play them hours on end, but at the moment I can only squeeze in a couple hours a week. I’m anxiously awaiting the release of Uncharted 3 and Dark Souls, and am mildly intrigued about Dead Island.
I no longer play online MMORPGs games (I once played Final Fantasy XI and WOW) as I find it too easy to get consumed and sink WAY to much time into them and neglect myself and the people and things around me. I don’t really like racing and sports games, and I have no interest in first person war shooters like Call of Duty and Battlefield. Otherwise, I’m open to just about every other type of game. I particularly like tower defense games like Savage Moon and Fieldrunners.
I’ll have to look into Haunting Ground. I’ve never heard of it but I LOVE survival horror (Resident Evil 4 is my favorite game of all time).
June 1, 2011 at 3:52 am #846875My husband is a big gamer, but I’m not too much. I have been playing Red Dead Redemption though, and I LOVE it. Riding my horse around is my favorite part. 😛
June 1, 2011 at 4:04 am #846876My favorite game series will always be Legend of Zelda! I use to have a crush on link when I was a kid 😀

Are you playing that on PS3 or XB360? >.>
June 1, 2011 at 11:06 pm #846998I think my favourite game series will forever be Monkey Island. 🙂
Recently though, I did splash out on a Nintendo DSi in order to catch up on the newest Pokemon releases. I got Pokemon Yellow when it was first released and loved it as a kid. Re-played it again recently and remembered why I was hooked the first time.
I like zombie shoot-ups, especially the big arcade ones. I have an arcade close to where I live and they normally get the up-to-date machines in. (I also love pinball.. not really in the video games category though).
Was also quite a big Final Fantasy fan but stopped at X for no particular reason.
Drakan looks really fun, I might have to go buy it. 🙂
June 1, 2011 at 11:31 pm #847000HAUNTING GROUND IS MY FAVORITE GAME EVER!!!! When I was pregnant I was stuck on bed rest for 2 whole months and my hubby picked up Haunting Ground for me to stay entertained for a while. Spookiest game ever!!!!! I couldn’t play it once the sun went down either (and it takes a lot to scare me!). My favorite room in the mansion was the room with the carousel. Creepiest thing ever!! Not a game for anyone that is easily spooked.
I’m also addicted to Guitar Hero and Super Mario 3 for the original nintendo.
June 2, 2011 at 12:20 am #847003The boyfriend and I both just got Minecraft, and it’s annoying the hell out of me that his computer runs it smoothly, and my computer freezes and lags when I play it, to the point where I can’t really play for more than 20 minutes. My computer sucks…it’s like 7 years old.
When I get frustrated with the lagginess of Minecraft, I go play Chocobo’s Dungeon 2. 🙂
Zelda is and always will be one of the best game series evah!

June 2, 2011 at 1:12 am #847008Leigha – it does that on my computer too sometimes, and I JUST bought it!! XD I think some of it can be attributed to the actual game itself, since the friend who introduced me to it told me he has the issue sometimes too. I think when it’s attempting to load the randomized content sometimes it freezes – mine generally stays that way for 30 seconds or so and then goes back to normal though ><

I am sure there is more i would like, I just can’t get too many games until they come down in price. 😛June 5, 2011 at 7:16 pm #847404I just got Little Big Planet as part of Sony’s ‘Welcome Back’ deal; I’ve heard a lot of good things about it. Mainly my PS3 is a BluRay player though. It’s the Wii and DS’s (DS, DSi and 3DS) that get most of the games and play time. I’ve just cleared Pokemon Black and White, and am eagerly awaiting the 3DS version of Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time in two weeks. My favorite series is Sonic the Hedgehog, but I’ve got a slew of Super Marios, Zeldas, and Pokemon. Also I love Okami (and Okamiden) and the Endless Ocean titles. On the computer, I do Sims 2, SimLife, and Zoo Tycoon.
I WISH I could find a suitable successor to SimLife, but there doesn’t seem to be one. Set the rules for a world (season temps and lengths, rain variation, percentage of ocean and mountains, gravity and food values), then design plants and animals to (hopefully) live in it. If they manage to survive, you can alter the conditions, or individual creatures, or whole species, and see who adapts and who goes extinct. The problem is, it’s rather old so both the graphics and game are limited compared to modern computers’ abilities. Also there’s no way to locate creatures with a given set of criteria, so when my gerbils mutated to eat my tigers, I had to track them all down individually (all 383 of them!) to smite the 12 that had mutated to carnivores. I’d hoped Spore might be similar, but I found that game as a whole very disappointing.
June 5, 2011 at 9:00 pm #847413I’ve been playing WoW since vanilla. I’m tired of grinding dailies and rep, and I don’t do raiding because I just don’t have that kind of commitment in me. Recently got Rift and am not all that excited about it. I played for a couple hours and was like.. meh.
I think it might be time to go hunt down an Atari and get back to childhood. xD
