I’d just like to know what the heck an interference paint IS! Anyone want to explain? I’d also like to know what it does, and where to get it.

    Thanks.

Kyrin, an interference paint is..HOW do you put this….ummm….OK, say for example…base coat something black, THEN you would like a shiny HINT of say blue to certain areas, this you would apply over the black to make it almost like opalecent (sp), kind of like the cars you see….it looks purple from one direction, then blue from another. Thats kinda how I would explain it. They come in ALL kinds of different colors, but are EXPENSIVE…sheesh LOL. Ummmmm, well I checked Michaels and you cant get them there. You can get them at any art supply place in the paint section. But these paints as I have found are VERY tricky to use (GRUMBLE)…but look really cool once you get your desired effect πŸ˜‰ πŸ˜€

I dont dilute the interference paint. Also, I tend to get cloudyness when the brush is damp πŸ˜•

You dont dilute, and you dont get the cloudiness unless the brush is wet??? Really??

      I HATE cloudiness….**gggGRGggrrrRRRrr**

πŸ˜€ I still get some cloudiness, but it is rare. It seems to me it the moisture that does it. I could be wrong. Im gonna try diluting it and see what happens πŸ˜†

Try mixing them with various paints as well….Like the red oxide with a yellow or green, you have to mix quite a bit more interference to regular paint, like 7:3 but you can get some cool effects.

Be forewarned if you mix them with the paints they will dry high gloss and almost look like those gelly finger paints =P I finaly took pics of the dragon I’ve been working on, so I’ll post those and you can get a better idea of what it does to the paints.

Liquitex and Golden paints, they seem to mix pretty well without complication, and Golden Interference Paints…Once again seems to mix with both brands no problems yet!

Cool, I have both brands for the interference paints. I do like the Golden better by a tad, but If they came cheaper by a different brand I would use those instead LMAO! But these will have to do for now! Why do they have to be sooo damned EXPENSIVE tho πŸ‘Ώ ??? πŸ˜† πŸ˜†

Cause they know us starvin’ artists will pay it no matter what 😯 πŸ˜• πŸ˜†
