*I forgot to mention that my grandma and my cousin put up flyers yesterday. I wish I could help, but I live so far away! I was told they were going to place the flyers at vet’s offices, and shelters, among other places. He doesn’t have a microchip either.
I forgot to add your grandmother should consider taking out an add in the “Lost and Found” of your local newspaper. It’s sometimes not free to post a “Lost” add, but it might be worth it.
Anyways, good luck.
October 28, 2007 at 1:43 am #629795Everyone has offered all the advice Id have given. Even if it’s been a week or so, still call your shelters (and keep on top of them), supply a photo (color is possible) to all local shelters and all local vets (not just your own). Talk to your neighbors. And try not to think about the schmucks out there during Halloween. It’s only 1% chance that Buster would be involved in something so off color as that. Believe it or not, police all over are watching and cracking down on that sort of thing during this time of year more and more every year.
WHEN he returns, yes, get him microchipped and get him a comfy collar. Break aways are good and bad. Sure they save the cat from possible choke hazzards but if the cat is lost and collar catches a branch and breaks away, no chance of ID unless chipped… and the hopes that the vet he goes to does a wand swipe to see if he IS chipped.
Im a graphic designer (and have also had a pet stolen out of my apartment so I know what it feels like to wonder and worry). If you need me to create some 8.5×11 size color posters with photos and info, please let me know. I can make many of them and FedEx them to you to distribute. I know you only have that one photo of Buster but if your Grams has more, grab some, scan them and email them to me and I can create whatever you need.
You, Grams and of course, Buster are in my thoughts and heart, Keep us updated please.
October 28, 2007 at 3:03 am #629796Thanks for your warm wishes! Grandma keeps on blaming herself because Buster used to hate the outdoors, but she would bring him outside with her anyway, and he eventually started to like it. I am worried about Buster, but I am more worried about grandma because she is so emotionally attached to him. And Pheonix-I’ll have to ask my grandma if she needs anymore flyers. It is so nice of you to offer! Thanks! I will let you all know updates as soon as I find out myself. 🙂

Good question BiPolarBear…
sometimes if a cat is very old they will leave the home when they know it is time. My 16 year old cat (inside cat) just wanted to go outside and was insisting, I let her out and followed her. She went right to the river in my ward and wanted to cross it. I had never seen her do that before. I would take her out with me when I would work in the flower beds outside and she would stay near me all the time. Then come back in when I was done. She had gotten real thin and would only eat chicken, since she could not keep her dry food down. That day I went to the vet with her and she passed away. 😥 I came back with her. I was lucky to have a friend drive me home because that day it felt just like I had lost a child.
Sorry for my pouring this on you but it is something that could happen if the cat is very old.
I hope her cat comes back.November 1, 2007 at 10:23 pm #629799Buster is only about two years old.
It’s weird though because my aunt had a dream with Buster talking to her. In the dream he wanted her to tell my grandma that he is staying with a new family now. If it’s true, I bet they don’t give him a chance to go outside because he definitely seems to love my grandma!
In the meantime, she adopted a new cat which looks similar to Buster. This time she got a female and named her Lily. I am glad grandma found a new companion, but knowing her, she probably wont allow Lily outside!
Thanks for all your warm wishes about Buster. I hope wherever he is he is with a good family. If he ever comes back though he will have a new cat to get aquainted with!November 2, 2007 at 12:12 am #629800😀 I’m happy for your grandma! And it is a good thing she got a female they usualy don’t wonder off like males do. I’m still hoping that Buster will come back.

November 14, 2007 at 1:19 am #629805this is EXACTLY one of the biggest reasons my cats are STRICTLY indoor. I would not be able to sleep at night at all if they where not all home and accounted for. I LOVE them all too much to lose one of them
November 14, 2007 at 1:34 am #629806Glad to hear it’s a happy ending!
DM, I totally agree.
November 14, 2007 at 1:44 am #629807I consider my 4 babies my kids since I will never have human kids. I would feel HORRIBLE beyond return if anything should happen to any of them. My oldest was only about 4 days old when she was found and everyone thought she would not survive but she is 8 now and I LOVE her and the 3 others with all my heart.
November 14, 2007 at 2:21 am #629808Glad the kitty came home! 😀
