I hope everything gets cleared up for you soon that’s lousy

      #723565

Thanks for the well-wishes, everyone. I still haven’t seen a probe from McAfee, but hopefully they’ll get on it soon.

I mean, it’s like going into the Post Office and seeing your name and photograph on a public alert for rabies, because last year when your dog got into the soap and toothpaste closet, someone from the neighbourhood watch happened to be passing by and later filed a rabid dog report. But didn’t bother to knock on the door and mention it.

      Or something.

You need SPF DNS records setup so spammers can’t spoof your domain as the “mail from”. Talk to your web host about it.

Thanks for the tip. I’ll look into this (right now I’m clueless).

Well, it’s been a while since I told our web host about the problem with Yahoo/McAfe, specifically mentioning your suggestion. They told me “Sure, we can do that,” and presumably did it.

Now, it seems McAfee, in response to my request for a site check (“may take 8 weeks”), has dropped us from their Oh You Bad Egg list.

I just did a Yahoo search and Astral Castle came high up on page 1 as a regular suggestion instead of being highlighted on page 10 under a red You Don’t Want To Go Here warning sign.

So many many thanks, Snap. You’re the best!

As a side note – is the new Dr. Who any good? I just watched the first season of Torchwood (thanks for the suggestion, Kyrin!) and it was great.

I’ve not managed to see a Torchwood show yet (I need to work on that) but by “new” Dr Who you mean David Tennant in general, or the current season? When Tennant took over from Christopher Eccleston I quit watching, as Tennant irritated me (and I’d loved Eccleston). I wish I’d stuck it out for a couple more episodes until I got into his character, though, because Tennant really is very good. Right now I’m recording every episode (new and repeat) shown on US TV and watching them as fast as I can.

And I love Russell T. Davies’ approach to the stories, allowing “adult” themes to be alluded to or addressed outright, without apology or compromise.

Makes me feel proud, by vague and largely irrelevant association, to be British.

Yeah, you dope! You should have given Tennant a chance, he is excellent! I was really sceptical about his abiltity to follow Chris’ act too, but he won me over in about 3 episodes.

I love all of the New Dr. Who…and am working on getting the DVD sets, man are they expensive, I got both seasons of Heroes a hell of a lot cheaper than it costs for just Season 1 of Dr. Who!

Anyway, Ddvm, definately get your paws on the Dr. Who series and watch it all the way through, it is awesome!

        I also highly recommend Heroes…

Haven’t gotten to Dr. Who but just watched the second season of Torchwood – and I am so traumatized! 😯 Hello, that was 40% of the cast! And now I have to wait for new shows to be filmed *whine* I HATE waiting!

But I was very happy James Marsters was in the 2nd season – Spike was one of my all time favorite characters in any TV show.

I admit it. I really should know by now that I have a problem with change. Particularly when it comes to new actors playing Dr Who. I think the only one I liked right from the get go was Peter Davison. He’s still my favourite. But all the others brought something new and exciting to the character and won me over after an initial period of doubt. I have no idea why I forgot this when Tennant took over. Hormone imbalance, probably.

I toyed with the idea, and I know my daughter Miri is seriously planning on buying them, but I decided that’s just way too much for me.

If I were to buy the new ones, I’d want to get the old ones too and I’d have to sell my house to be able to afford them. And Linda might have words to say to me about that.

Right now I am wishing I had the money to start saving up to buy the first three seasons of House. Miri had the first three, and Linda and I had the fourth, but now Miri has moved out to her own apartment and taken her House with her.

There’s always something to buy that one can’t afford.

I hate to be the bearer of bad news but there aren’t going to be many new seasons of Torchwood Series Three. Not sure if their going to cancel but there will be a shorter season.

Five episodes, telling one long story, split over one week – to be filmed this Autumn/Winter, and to be shown on BBC One in 2009.

*whimper* Why do they do that to all the really good shows? 🙁 Don’t even get me started about Battlestar Galactica! *goes off to pout and eat chocolate*

Hey, You could go make the Chocolate mug cake 😆 As long as they don’t take away the Doctor I’m good 😆

You can see the SPF record in the TXT field. It identifies that, if an email that claims to be from a user@astralcastle.com did NOT originate from the IP listed, then it is to be explicitly considered a fraud and should be discarded. (There are varying levels of SPF rejection, but ~all there is as hard as it enforces).

As long as the receiving end supports SPF, which most major ISP’s now do. Obviously, if the receiving end doesn’t support SPF, the email goes through no matter what – but as far as Yahoo/Google is concerned, you are a “conforming Internet good guy” now. (Yahoo was the first major online presence to push SPF when it originated, so obviously they are biased against people who don’t use it).
