my gosh i am so all about dapple gray with a nice dark muzzle, soooooo stunning! awwwwwwww! i ‘d love to do the pyo like that, but boy that’s an airbrush paint job, not brush!
Not true, I can do a dapple grey with only brushes.

well for ME anyway, though i’d love to try! i’ll try and make a mess, lol! i don’t have an air brush, nor do i care to own one. heck, i’m a sculptor not a painter anyway! good for you kyrin if you can pull that fabulous subtleness off, i look forward to seeing yours and everybody elses! do you normally paint horsies? this will be so different to see how everyone deals with painting a totally different kind of critter, especially now, giving the horse painting folk a great chance to shine! squee! i can’t wait to see!
Yeah, I’ve been painting and drawing horses since I could pick up a pencil. I absolutely love horses, and can’t wait until we can get some fences in so we can have them again.
Anyway, drybrushing really lends itself for things like dappling…there are a bunch of ways you can go about getting a dapple effect. I’ll see if I can do a WIP for you guys when we get the unicorns.

Depending on what Appaloosa pattern you go with it would be just as difficult as doing a Dapple Grey. Though I must say I would love an appy with a blanket myself on either.
I don’t doubt it would be a nuiscance to paint. But I still think it would look pretty neat – and especially unusual. π
May 21, 2007 at 3:19 am #578914man, i cannot wait to see the pieces you all paint of the pyo unicorns. i am so excited! i love seeing all of your ideas come to fruition. π
May 21, 2007 at 3:25 am #578915Thanks, gryphon. π You can bet I’ll be doing something other than usual, natural colorings, since all the expert horse painters out there will probably be doing those.
May 21, 2007 at 12:16 pm #578916Yeah. I haven’t tried any horses in the past so the unicorn will be a challenge! Yep, Diesel was a Blood Bay. But not a brownish one, more reddish. He wasn’t even mine, but I still remember riding him! π

If you choose to do it, I would love to see it.
