I have to weigh in with all the people who say find a dentist who will take payments. A cavity that hurts that bad could develop and absess and that can make you very sick. I’m not trying to scare you, but in rare cases, tooth absess has killed people. It’s because the tooth is so close to the brain.

My motto is, it never hurts to ask!If it is really unbearable, you might want to consider the emergency room, but the bills there will be much worse, so I’d try to make it to Monday.

I agree with Kyrin, I know that when I have self pay patients they get a huge discount. Sometimes I will also do things like give them a shot at no charge or give them samples and make sure any prescriptions I give are generic.
Walmart has the $4 generic prescription plan.
I don’t agree about the ER. Most ER’s don’t do teeth and most won’t give you pain meds for it either. Sadly, it would be a waste of money. I worked in the ER for 5 years. Many people pretended to have tooth aches to get drugs, and there weren’t any dentists affiliated with the hospital. The most they usually got was some antibiotics. That helps a tiny bit, but you really need to see a dentist.
Hang in there, take some Aleve, Advil, try the oil, Anbesol, look in your phone book for low cost dentists. If you have a dentist, they might call you out some pain meds to hold you over.
January 27, 2008 at 12:13 am #652477Does anyone know Dracomancer in the real world? It’s been three weeks since we heard from him. I’ve PM’d but no reply. Three weeks is a long time to someone with a seriously bad tooth.
January 27, 2008 at 12:17 am #652478I’m not sure. I was wondering about him too. His girlfriend doesn’t hang around here too often, either, so it’s tough to know.
Yoohoo! Draco!

Well, good for him! I know it had been weighing on him. That would be a relief. Hopefully, it helped to take care of the tooth problem…
