So I’ve been feeling pretty crappy the last two days and I thought it was my IBS acting up. Well last night I got the shivers so bad I couldn’t stop them for three hours. Danny went downstairs to sleep on the sofa because he knew I was sick. So this morning I wake up and take my temp and its 101.7 😥 I’m so worried I’m going to make everyone in the house sick. I’m afraid to pick up Alyssa but I have no choice if I want her to eat. I’m gonna cry if I make everyone sick.

I’m sorry purpledoggy! 🙁 There are a lot of people getting sick right now. Especially with the flu. I did hear that the flu shots this year aren’t working so well for some reason.

I do hope you feel better soon though. Just get lots of rest, and drink plenty of fluids. *big warm hugs*

I’m going to go to my doctor to see if they can tell me what I have. I don’t think its the flu since I don’t have any body aches and I’m not throwing up. I’m waiting for Alyssa’s doctor to open so I can ask them what I should do with her.

Hope your appointment goes well. They might just give you some antibiotics to knock it outta your system. It’s good that you’re trying to take care of it early. I can totally understand you being worried about your baby getting sick too.

I don’t think its anything antibiotics can help. I’m just afraid I will pass it on to Alyssa seeing how she is breastfed. I called her doctor and of course they wont get back to me till some time late this afternoon. So in the meantime I guess I’m gonna have to breastfeed her and hope she doesn’t get sick.

Hmmm… well I hope she doesn’t get sick.

It’s odd… but once in blue moon I’ll get bad chills at night, and start to get a fever. I don’t know what causes it! I’ll take some tylenol though to help the fever go down… and the next morning I’ll be fine! Maybe a 24 hour bug or something? 😕

Blah I’m back from the doctor. They don’t think its the flu just some kind of virus and to tell you the truth I feel fine lol. I called Alyssa’s pediatrician and she told me I can’t breastfeed for 24 hours after having a fever above 101?! She told me to give her formula in the meantime. There is no way she will eat that and I don’t have any so I’m not sure what to do.

It’s possible that the fever damaged the proteins in your milk (I’m just guessing here, because lots of proteins are altered by heat) and may have made the milk harder to digest. Although I’m sure Alyssa will give you the fisheye over offering her formula, better give it a try. The pediatrician should be able to suggest some good products (since they’ve spoiled Alyssa’s menu for 24 hours, let them help figure out what to offer her! ;)). Good luck!

I talked with the lactation councelor at the hospital I had Alyssa at. They told me NOT to stop breastfeeding because it is giving her immunities to whatever I have. The only contraindication for breastfeeding is HIV, Hepatitis and sepsis.
