First, do I send pictures to John to make sure I haven’t infringed on any copyrights?
Second, what is better….brush on gloss for a top coat? Or spray on gloss for the top coat? I just don’t want to spray anything in my appartment because of my fish and cats, and there is too much snow outside to spray out there.
February 19, 2007 at 12:15 pm #541578I dont think you need to send pics to John. I dont think any of us ever have. You can look at a peice and see if it looks like a production color. As for the top coat, I have no idea 🙂 I prefer brush, but thats because I have never used spray.
February 19, 2007 at 12:16 pm #541579I personnally prefer painting on the top coat. With the spray, I got the impression I missed spots.
If your PYO is for you only, I don’t think you need to check with John. It’s if you want to sell that it can become a problem.

I personally really like the brush on finishes. It lets me seal parts of the PYO I’ve completed as I go, so I don’t accidentally hurt what’s finished while I’m working on other parts…it also allows me to give different finishes to different parts of the sculptures (ex: I give the ki-rins a satin finish on their fur and a gloss finish on their scales and hooves.)

-J R R TolkienFebruary 19, 2007 at 12:22 pm #541581It’s for the swap, so it’s not for myself. I just wanted to know before I top coated it so I could change it without too much work.
February 19, 2007 at 12:28 pm #541582I don’t know, then… but since it’s not going for profit (and I don’t think anyone would sell their swap) you might be ok.

So Nambroth, since you aren’t in the swap. Do you mind if I PM a picture to you?
