    Hello : )

I am fairly new to the site but have been collecting white windstones for years. I was curious about the type of paint that I should use to fix a small paint rub on the crest scales of a white hatching emperor. Any thoughts? Any advice is appreciated.

If they’re the golden scales, the FolkArt Metallic Inca gold is a nice match. For the white scales themselves, a mix of the FolkArt Metallic Champagne and Metallic Pearl white should do the trick.

You’ll have to experiment a little, so go very lightly with just a little bit of paint to start.

Thanks for the info. Where do you normally find these?

Michael’s usually has these paints, if you’re located in the U.S. Outside the U.S. I couldn’t say, but they could probably be found on Amazon. I’ve used the FolkArt metallic series too, and I really like them. They’re economical and they dilute nicely with water, so you can work them onto the piece in thin layers if you’re trying for a “seamless” color repair.

I get them at Michael’s too, and I’m in Canada.

I am in the U.S so I will definitely be making a trip to Michael’s soon. Thank you for your help! : )
