So I got the peacock scratcher I ordered from a store online (ordered over the phone). They put him in his cardboard form fitting box, with bubble wrap over his head but nothing to protect his body (when mine are ordered from the factory they always have a plastic bag..?) SOooo he has gold flaked off on 2 of his claws and some of the ‘spots’ that run along his body. I called and left a message last night (store was closed) and waiting to hear back. I don’t want to return him really because by the time I pay for postage to send him back and I paid the postage to send him to me I’d be out like $40 bucks and have nothing to show for it! Any advice?? I was planning on buying from them again and said that in my message but now I’m not so sure I will.

March 5, 2008 at 3:31 pm #669910If it’s only his gold spots, you can touch that up easily. The paint pens only cost a couple bucks. My ruby OW arrived like that, no bag to protect him. Quite a bit of his gold had rubbed off. I touched him up and he’s good as new. 😀

As mentioned by others, you should consider getting a DecoColor gold paint pen and touching up the gold yourself. These are the same pens used by Windstone to detail the gold. It’s only a couple of dollars and is a good investment, because in my experience, it’s pretty common for the gold detailing to rub off. I’ve even had that happen on pieces that were shipped in their original thick plastic bags.
