It could be a variety of Rose of Sharon, in the Marsh Mallow Family. Pretty pink flowers in the summer, kinda looks like a hibiscus blossom. That would be my guess. 😀

The Rose of Sharon is in my back yard, I have two of them! *and now I know what they are! Thanks!!!* 😀 The leaves are different from those.

They look like oak or maple leaves but not as wide leafed… does that make since???

And when I do an image search for Marsh Willow I get pictures of MarshMellows… 😆

It could be a broad leaf oak…i wonder what the bark looks like. And it’s Marsh Mallow, not willow, but you’ll probably still get marshmellows!

try that, it’s a brackish water plant (where salt and fresh water mix) I used to work for the Audobon Society, I’m such a dendraphile!!!

actually, marshmellows were originally made from that plant, they would grind the root up and mix it with honey, it supposedly settles the stomach! Wierd but true!

I am going to go over there and take a picture of the whole little tree. It just started growing this year… I’ll post a picture once I get that done! 😉

It’s not that weird. When I traveled abroad I was given molasses cubes covered in brown sugar to ease indigestion. And a spoonful of sugar can cure hiccups. It depends on the ailment! 😀
