Yep the Georgia Renaissance Festival starts this weekend and runs every weekend until June 1. I’ve been at the GA. Ren Faire almost every year in the last 8 years. I missed last year because my husband deployed and I couldn’t get things worked out for going. I hate going alone as well, but none of my friends are able to make it this year. I was really surprised when my mom volunteered to go with me. They aren’t really her kind of thing, but since she lives 6 hours away from me (and a lot closer to the fair than I am) she offered to go, probably so she could spend some time with me and my son, her only grandson. In fact he’s the only grandson on both sides of the family so far. My brother-in-laws girlfriend is pregnant (baby due in early October) and they don’t know what they are having yet.

wow you live 6 hours away!!!!!! ;o
I am like 2ish hours away not as bad i guess… omg but its so fun to see all the shops and costumes and oHH and smoked turkey legs YUMM! 🙂 I can almost smell it now!!! * gumble i want one now*

Awesome that you have you mom to come along!

I live 6 hours away from my parents, but only about 4 hours away from the faire. My parents live about 2 hours from the faire. That’s why I’ll be spending the weekend with my parents and go to the faire from their house.

          Pictures from the fair!

Gavin and I outside one of the shops. It was warm enough finally that I could peel his jacket off for the picture.

You can see more of my costume here. Gavin is contemplating throwing things in the water fountain below.

          Sir Gavin the Brave

          Kissing wench got him!

All tuckered out after the fair.

We did. 😀 The only piece of his costume that we never got on him was a rope belt. I’m thinking I might want to make him a small vest to go over the shirt as well.

Looks like you both had a great time. I miss the Ren Fest, they stopped running it here a couple of years ago. 🙄

Thank you every one. We had a good time. It was different this year since I went with my Mother. She doesn’t really strike me as the type to enjoy something like this and I think the entire reason she went was because I wanted someone to go with me and couldn’t find anyone else who could.

I’m sorry to hear they stopped running the ren faire near you Jasmine. It’s probably for the same reason the Georgia Ren Fair only happens once a year now rather than twice a year – they weren’t making enough money to justify it. The Georgia Ren Faire stopped doing the fall fair season about 10 years ago. The first time I went to the fair was the first time they only had it once a year.

Unfortunately I wasn’t able to find any “hot” barbarians. If I had I would have had a hard time getting pictures because I forgot to bring a harness for my son and was constantly trying to keep up with him to keep him out of trouble.

It sounds like you had a small barbarian making you “hot” and bothered!!! 😆
