So I found out apparantly they are spraying our entire apartment building for spiders because the kids on the first floor are getting some kind of bites… welllll… we aren’t getting any bites on the third floor. Anyhow, I have to leave with the pets while they do it and for awhile after (he’s not even sure how long I have to ask the exterminator when they get there). It’s raining, and I have one car. 3 large dogs. 7 cats. What the heck am I supposed to do with all of them lol! Hopefully my sister is coming over with her truck so we can put a couple carriers in there and if it’s not raining we could just sit in the back of the truck with the dogs. *If* it’s not raining. I hate chemicals too.. I mean I don’t want to get bugs up in my apartment but then again why spray it if there’s a problem. I just always worry about the pets getting sick. And the crap floating around in the air it can’t be good for dragon and horse finishes! 😆
Not to mention I don’t know what the hell they will do if they need to get all the carpet, I have a ton of heavy antique furniture (some of it has breakables inside!) I don’t want them moving to get under and every room has big furniture. I’m feeling a tad frustrated!
April 28, 2008 at 6:15 pm #694016Yuck! I hope nothing unfortunate happens.
April 28, 2008 at 7:29 pm #694017Thanks me too 🙂 My mom said I could throw sheets over dragons and horses but I don’t know if I have that many sheets haha. My dad thinks they only spray with a thing like you do to the weeds only along the baseboards. So we’ll see!
April 28, 2008 at 9:17 pm #694018Dang- if we were near each other, Id come over and help and or you could have some of your animals stay at my house for the time being. But dont move to FL cause we have a large insect problem too!
Good luck and though a pain in the rump, it will pass and eventually work out. Doubt youll have buggy problems; this is just an inconvenience.
April 28, 2008 at 9:19 pm #694019If they don’t spray the whole building you could get the bugs from the 1st floor up to your floor. I lived in an apartment in Roswell, GA at one time and a neighbor got cockroaches – she sprayed and they all came over to visit me. UGH
April 28, 2008 at 10:02 pm #694020I used to live in an apartment building where the roaches were so resistant to the pesticide sprayed monthly, all that would happen is they would run from one apartment to the next fleeing the guy spraying, then after a couple hours they would all trickle back to their accustomed places. All it did was annoy the tenants, cause it never killed a single roach.

April 28, 2008 at 10:17 pm #694021Very first apartment I lived in had to be “Sprayed” but they didn’t actually use a spray, it was a gel. They dabbed it into corners and in the cupboards and such. It worked really well and I did even have problems with the cats tasting the stuff or anything.

😯 Ewwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww I guess I’ve been lucky I don’t know if this just isn’t the climate for bugs or what but I’ve never had a problem anywhere I’ve lived house or apartment. Welll.. I did have a bee problem here for awhile! Knock on wood.. never did find a nest but there were bees coming out of the bathroom every other week or so in the middle of winter!

Yuck. Well, they haven’t actually found any bugs the kids just have itchy bites so they think there are fleas or mites or spiders I guess. He just left and I sure as hell hope there aren’t any up here because he did a crappy job- he had me put the animals in the bathroom (that was a relief! but lots of hissing!) and he just had a spray thing like for weeds and put a little here and a little there on the base board area. I highly doubt that’s enough to kill everything if there even is anything here. Less than 5 minutes probably about 3 minutes it took him for the whole apartment. Was a relief though not to have to carry everyone downstairs- especially mr. foster cat the 25 pounder!
