the last airshow they had here At Martins a stealth fighter crashed into some ones house and the government kicked every one out of the community so they could gather up all the parts. Any one caught with a part would go to prison ..they havent had once since and that was about 8 years ago

Ouch! That stinks! I have no idea why we don’t have them any more. I do know that nothing has crashed. Well besides for the idoit in the Mig 19 or 21 (I think) that took on a full load of fuel and took off on a runway TOO SMALL for that… he crashed. But it wasn’t at the “main” airport. We have a LONG runway here.

They stopped the air show here for a while because they wanted to tighten up base security. Our air show is out of MacDill Air Force base. We’re back to having it some years, but we didn’t his year.

              Awesome, Serenity!
Airshows are so much fun. The last one I attended is already a couple years back, though. It was down in the French part of Switzerland.
The fun thing is, though, the Patrouille Suisse, Switzerland military stunt team, sometimes does practice runs over our house. 😀

The only problem is flags are not supposed to touch the ground if they do they are supposed to be burned

Thats true but is it just flags flown over military complexes or is it all flags? It looked like they tried not to let it hit the ground… its a 140lbs flag!!!

                    This site: http://www.ushistory.org/betsy/flagetiq.html
                    has this to say.

“My flag touched the ground. Do I need to destroy it?

No. You should, of course, try to avoid having the flag touch the ground. But if it does, you should correct the situation immediately. If the flag has been dirtied, you should clean it by hand with a mild soap solution and dry it well before returning it to use.”

Flags are burned when they’re old and tattered:

“My flag is old and ready to be retired. What should I do?

Section 8k of the Flag Code [see below] states, ‘The flag, when it is in such condition that it is no longer a fitting emblem for display, should be destroyed in a dignified way, preferably by burning.'”

I wasn’t sure about that since the info came from my ex husband and he is usually full of $h*t… So I looked it up! 😛 😉
