      This one is real cute.

And there’s a cute rhino too. She had a dragon and a rabbit up for a while, but they didn’t sell and she didn’t relist them, although I asked her to.

I don’t think they’re expensive at all! I can’t afford them, but I mean for what they are, that’s a good price. 🙂

Really? It seems pricey to me, but then again, I dont know how hard it is to make them. It sounds like they are fun to make! I think the rhino is cute, too, but I dont like it as much as the uni.

She’s going to relist the dragon Saturday night. It’s really cute. The rabbit sold.

Hmm! It depends on her materials and time. Some earthen clays can be pretty expensive! Then there are the costs of the kiln (kilns can be anywhere from $600 for a real cheapie, to tens of thousands of dollars.. most home-use kilns for firing things often will run you around $2k). Then there is the cost of running the kiln (electric, natural gas, propane, or wood) and she says she fires it 3-4 times. So, I’d estimate her cost of production to be at least $40-50. I have no idea how long these take her, but I can’t imagine it taking much less than 10 hours to do (firing takes a long time by itself), and with that in mind she is making $10/hr or less on these. Then factor in she has to pay taxes, and if this is her job then she has to worry about her own insurance, retirement, etc etc. It all adds up. 🙂

Most of the time I could earn more in a low-end retail store than I do on my art. And in retail I could at least get benefits, paid time off, and put into a 401k. Not so, being self-employed! This is kinda sad, given that it took years of dedication and learning to be a skilled artisan. But, as long as I don’t get kicked out on the street, I’ll keep at it. 😉

Good points! I didn’t even think about the kilns!!

It’s really difficult to get any kind of money for artwork on ebay anyway, I know that from experience.

I like both of the sculptures.

They-re cute, but not realistic enough for my taste.

Very unusual and interesting pieces. They have a lot of character but I don’t think I’m going to pick up another expensive collection 😀

But they really are very original!

I’m trying for the sea dragon, but that’s probably the only one I’ll try to get. She has a cute elephant up now though too.

                            And this cute dragon:
