[=#BF80FF]I hand cast eyes for many Windstoners’ PYO projects, but never see them! Is there some sort of copyrite infringement regarding this?
Koishii did this Crimson Sapphire PYO for me with your eyes; not sure which ones except that they are full metallic. She used tacky so I could change them if I decided I wanted regular production eyes, but I love them. 😀 And she did post his pictures on the forum. 🙂
February 14, 2011 at 8:16 pm #821271FWIW, I remember Watergazer getting into trouble on a memorial wolf she did. The dog she was capturing had big bat ears, so she modified the sculpt’s ears to look like the dog’s. Seemed a rather minor alteration, but she was told not to anymore.
I’ve seen plenty with jewels and ‘stuff’ added in places never made for them on the sculpts, though, and that’s apparently fine- at least I’ve never noticed backlash, even for rococo jobs.
The issue with the eyes is new; certainly Melody hasn’t seemed bothered by them, but she may be enjoying them artistically, not considering them legally. Maybe if it is written in permanent ink on the felt pad when non-Windstone eyes are used, and noted in the photos? (i.e. ‘sculpt copyright Windstone Editions; eyes copyright Dreaming Tree Studios’?) I also remember it being said that the eyes were glued in originally to help prevent fraudulent casting off the sculpts.
(maybe noting on the pad in permanent ink could work for very minor alterations also, like Yeral’s awesome zombie’s slices?)February 19, 2011 at 7:30 pm #821272pipsxlch wrote:FWIW, I remember Watergazer getting into trouble on a memorial wolf she did. Because what it does is it makes the piece appear to be an orange-eyed emerald, which are worth more because of the rarity.
Using other eyes in PYO Windstones is to the best of my knowledge totally okay.
