I didn’t see another forum post for this subject. And I thought it might be nice to have a place to post the memeories of our furbabies.
Today I put my beloved Uma down. A beautiful American Bulldog who was 14 years old. She had been fighting kidney cancer and today when I looked into her eyes, I knew it was time.
She filled my life with happiness and joy. She loved eveyone and never met a single stranger in her entire life. She brought smiles to everyone who ever met her with her love of life and friendliness. She loved helping me raise strays. It didnt matter what they were she loved them all… kittens, puppies, piglets, calves, goats, chickens, foals and even litter of rabbits. She never had pups of her own so she adopted the world.
As much as it hurst to say goodbye I am so glad she is no longer in any pain. I am greatful for the years of happy memories and love she gave me.
Rest In Peace dear friend. The Rainbow Bridge
inspired by a Norse legend
By the edge of a woods, at the foot of a hill,
Is a lush, green meadow where time stands still.
Where the friends of man and woman do run,
When their time on earth is over and done.
For here, between this world and the next,
Is a place where each beloved creature finds rest.
On this golden land, they wait and they play,
Till the Rainbow Bridge they cross over one day.
No more do they suffer, in pain or in sadness,
For here they are whole, their lives filled with gladness.
Their limbs are restored, their health renewed,
Their bodies have healed, with strength imbued.
They romp through the grass, without even a care,
Until one day they start, and sniff at the air.
All ears prick forward, eyes dart front and back,
Then all of a sudden, one breaks from the pack.
For just at that instant, their eyes have met;
Together again, both person and pet.
So they run to each other, these friends from long past,
The time of their parting is over at last.
The sadness they felt while they were apart,
Has turned into joy once more in each heart.
They embrace with a love that will last forever,
And then, side-by-side, they cross over… together.

January 28, 2014 at 2:57 am #908128I’m so sorry that you had to let Uma go, but I know and she knows that you gave her the greatest gift you possibly could have; that of full and loving life with you being able to be strong enough to grant her a dignified passing to her next stage in life. Hard as that is for those of us left behind for a time she will always love you and be forever greatful for yor courage to be able to ease her passing. Many hugs and condolences.
