Hindsight is always 20/20 or almost.

Has anyone here had a sweet purchase or gift that for whatever reason you let go and you’ve been kicking yourself for ever since?

        Here is mine:

Back in the early 90s I was at the mall and I had the opportunity to purchase a brand new Tan Griffin. I had held in my hands and ALMOST got it. But at the time money was hard to come by and just starting high school and too young to work and I had no rich relatives. My dad always emphasized using money well and I couldn’t (in a practical way) justify the output on a “dust catcher”. I think the price was something like $65 and it had taken me a really long time to save up the money that came my way sporatically over a couple of years. So, what did I do? I walked away. It was the practical thing to do – so I thought. Of course, this waaayy before knowing about “retired pieces”, etc.

After I graduated high school and got a decent paying job I went to go get that griffin, and what do you know?! They only have the black one. Ebay hadn’t really started up yet and stores only carried current stock. Now I see those beautiful griffins going for $150-300+ and I think about my $65 beauty that I walked away from. WHY??!!

        *sigh* Oh well. 😥

I almost lost all my brown, green, white and emerald dragons due to retirement. I was determined to get them all. With the brown and green Karen worked with me to find them and I found the white and emerald on line right after they retired. I got very lucky. But there where many phone calls even lookign on line to confirm that their web information was correct

back in Middle school I wanted a Windstone, and they were all too expensive…except for the HUGE Unicorn gargoyle, only $72 at Ashley Avery’s in the mall. I saved up and saved up…and when I had the money, I thought, “Man, this is a lot of money…” and decided not to spend it all on one thing. And, like Silver, walked away. Now I see them going for $250 on ebay. ugh. It’s my favorite gargoyle next to the big dragon

I got my then-boyfriend a white pegasus as a Christmas gift about 10 years ago. We ended up breaking up the next summer. When I saw earlier this year that they were retired and the prices they fetched on ebay I was sorry I didn’t take it with me when I left! I even thought of getting in touch with him to find out if he still had it. But I decided it wasn’t worth the agravation! As you can probably tell, it wasn’t a friendly break-up 😆

This isn’t such a sad story as the others, but my worst one that got away was the rainbow mother Grandio offered for $89 before rainbow was retired. I thought I’d order her as soon as I had a few other more important pieces… And then some crazy person bought a rainbow mother for $171 on E-Bay.

There have been a couple of peices that I didn’t have the money for back then (10 years ago). The Emerald Emperor, the large Emerald wizard. I thought they were too expensive so I didn’t get them and by the time I had the money that store was no longer there. Now I ended up paying more for them then what I would have.

There have been a couple that went on Ebay that I just didnt have the funds for. The Jade scratcher that just got away…I would have paid more than what it sold for if I only had just gotten paid.

                    I’m glad you didn’t! 😀

While hiding somewhere in my head I'm on the lookout for white oriental dragons! Please let me know if you know of any available. Thank you!

Alright, I harp on this peice, but I still kick myself in my cheeks when I saw a Hawks on Ebay, sold by Valliana (excellent seller by the way). It went for $55.00 buck or so. I told my boyfriend of the time to watch it, and bid up to $200 for me. He said ok, in that way men have that says “If I remember I will.” (it’s like taking out the trash, and not ALL men say it that way either, before you all jump up and wanna kill me…DM, Vantid, etc.) Well, he didn’t, and I didn’t get it, so maybe that is why it plagues me so. 😕

Ditto. It’s like getting out bid by $1 in the last 10 seconds of an auction.

I lost the first 23KT Gold Leaf Hatching Empress last year by $25 since I was on my way to work when it ended. I almost upped my bid right before I left but did not figure it would go for over $1950
