I should be posting updates on THE MOVE of
Windstone, but there is not much to say, except it is taking an excruciatingly long time to get everything out of this building. We are closing down units one at a time as we empty them, and sending out two or three truckloads a week. I think we just sent our 18th yesterday, but I may of lost count.July 21, 2008 at 9:11 pm #718213I have now totally lost count of the number of trucks we’ve sent out. We are still a few truck loads away from having the building here empty. We have run into a major snag moving John’s car collection; no car-trucks available to move them. Seems that there is a mass exodus of cars needing transport out of California and the car-trucks are booked up.
I am getting the permits, health certificates, vet checks, vaccinations, ear tags and micro chips required by Oregon dept. of Agriculture for all of my animals. They will all be loaded onto a horse transport trailer end of the week sometime.
We need to go up at the same time.
The office here is closing down but Susie is still taking phone calls. We have packed and sent most of our inventory. Susie has saved a few of each piece to continue filling orders for a day or two, at her makeshift “desk” ( a rolling cart).
It is getting close to the final move day. Then we get to unpack it all again!July 26, 2008 at 6:09 pm #718214July 26 , we are still in CA, but getting down to the last detritus of twenty years of being in one place. Truck twenty(? I think), the last one for stuff comes next week, the animals get loaded the cars got loaded (that is two more trucks)and we are out of here.
The office is almost completely gone, computers are packed. We are exhausted. I discovered Lap tops get hot on the bottom! I never noticed that because I always had a desk to set it on.July 30, 2008 at 8:06 pm #718215My daughter Chessie and her boyfriend, Adam, have just left for Corvallis. They will be up there by Friday. Maybe they’ll be able to set up and answer the phones at the new Windstone place, so we got somebody alive up there instead of the answering machine. The rest of us will be going up this weekend. We think.
I need to put off the end-of-July raffle. I know, it sucks, but I don’t know where the eggs with the names in them or the prizes are!
August 1, 2008 at 8:10 pm #718216AnonymousI spoke with John this morning, and all the animals and cars are gone. He says at this point “anything left goes in the garbage”. They hope to be in Corvallis and functional by Tuesday.
Remember the store will not have any inventory until at least towards the middle of the month, and anything that can wait, please wait to contact them until they are 100% up and running.
August 1, 2008 at 10:21 pm #718217The animals arrived in Corvallis today! So that is one big issue out of the way. They all be will be very happy to get unloaded!
One stupid llama simply refused to go, so she is still here in CA. I am going to have to find a home for her!
I don’t know how the heck people get sheep onto trucks efficiently. We all had to gang up on each sheep and push, pull and partially carry each one. I hope unloading them won’t be as difficult!August 18, 2008 at 12:46 am #718218Finally!! We are here! Not set up, but trying hard to get the basic shipping department up and running. Still no phones connected, only two computers functioning, and we can’t find the printer to make Ebay letters, but hopefully we will begin shipping back orders on Monday… if we can locate the shipping boxes. To help you understand the magnitude of this moving mess, we can’t find our piano. It is here somewhere.
I have almost no internet access myself,(I am in a cafe’ on a borrowed laptop at the moment) so I won’t been able to get on this forum often for awhile.
I did find the raffle eggs, so I will be doing a drawing for a surprize prize soon as I find one! <3 MelodyAugust 19, 2008 at 7:48 pm #718219AnonymousHold on to the raffle and we’ll do a radio show when you have your .. *things* .. back in order. 😀
Then you can tell everyone at once about all the new stuff and we can bombard you with questions, save everyone a pile of typing.
August 21, 2008 at 12:04 am #718220We have phones!!! We have internet !!! We have computer desks made out of boxes! -But we got our first order call today, AND we shipped our first package!!
We did locate the piano, but I still can’t find raffle prizes. I also lost the raffle eggs with names in them again, so this will be a special quickie raffle, for a surprise item. If you want to be in this one, you need to send me an email: reptangle (at) gmail (dot) com with the words “Special raffle” in the subject line. We’ll pull a name on Monday.
I will try to do the regular end of the month raffle, if we find the stuff I need.
It would be cool to do the end of the month drawing live in a radio show! If it could be pulled off.August 22, 2008 at 3:38 am #718221AnonymousAll I need from you is to call me on a good phone. I can handle the rest, if I can find my microphone. The new office is quiet at night to run the show, and the rest of my gear is there and unpacked already.

We have good phones here, at the biz, but not at home. What time would be good? We will need to have a list of things to talk about, or questions, so there isn’t dead air.
August 23, 2008 at 12:47 am #718223AnonymousOoooh as soon as I open up the questions forum I’m sure it will get loaded. 🙂
September 4, 2008 at 5:42 pm #718224Let’s do a radio show near the end of the month…that way I can pull the September raffle prize live. I also may be in a better position to answer the questions that start with “when…?”. I have never been good at those.
