I feel like it’s pass the chain. At least this one was kept very quiet. When Zucker bought it, there was too many rumors going around. Well, I hope NRDC Equity will be good for the company.

What hurts is Mrs Zucker after her husbands death said that she had no intention of selling…… 😕

My husband was looking at that yesterday. I hope the transfer goes smoothly…

Read my books! Volume 1 and 2 of A Dragon Medley are available now.

I hope so too. I’m keeping my fingers crossed. (It was kept very, very quiet. I have a feeling that they didn’t even let the stores know until yesterday late afternoon.)

One little question. Does Canada need an even more expensive Bay? It sounds like they are planning on bringing Lord and Taylor and a few other very high end stores and (meshing??) them with the Bay. Especially the Downtown Toronto Bay store.

I’m a little confused by the articals, one says the Zellers will now focus on more branded items for clothing but, in another that they’ll focus on making things cheaper…?

I’m just hoping that HBC will continue to grow. It would be so sad to see the oldest company in North America close down.

It’s an old company and part of history, but I still avoid the bay.. they always put the perfume section by the door and/or by the elevators so you *have* to walk through it. Yuck.

I still hope their transaction goes smoothly I kinda rely on Zellers for random cheap stuff that I need.

Almost all department stores do that. 😕

I know but we were talking about the Hudsons Bay. I avoid most department stores. Zellers doesn’t seem to do it, so I can avoid where they put their smellier stuff. Same with WalMart. 🙄

I kinda do consider The Bay a department store… 😉

The problem with going with higher end merchandise is that the founding store is already higher end but why shop there when you can run across the street (or through the mall) to Sears and find it much cheaper there? Though I did notice that the Eaton Centre is pushing out the cheaper stores in favour of the larger name brand stores (ie. Guess, Fossil, Armani). I guess they’re trying to compete with York Mills and Vaughn.

That was worded wrong. I didn’t meant that the Bay wasn’t a department store…

You guys are cute. I mainly avoid The Bay as well. (and I work for the company…) But, I have to say some of their clearance sales are quite good. We have one just down the hall at the mall I work at and we were selling their clearance and their patio sets for them this summer. I fell in love with a chair and ottoman. (Sadly this love will never reach my apartment since it was almost $500 on sale…… 😥 )

          Edited since I can’t spell today….

I avoid the bay as well, I am just way to cheap to pay that much for my kids clothes, and I and too big for their clothes as well.

What is Hudsons Bay? Sorry, but I don’t know that one.

This is a good place to start. I guess you’ve never had to watch “The Beaver” in school?

I don’t know about the first one but, the second goes from history to almost present day.
