Ironic that we have pictures of lizards and red/brown widow spiders so close together…when I lived in Southern California the resident backyard lizards would eat the black widows we’d get in our backyard. (Something of which we were very thankful. My heart always started racing once I saw that little red hourglass shape against black.)

I love lizards and geckos. I’m not big on crocs, alligators, and snakes just because that’s all that’s on nature shows now but I love the little guys. 😀

I do not know what the correct name for these guys are…but we call them jumping spiders. this is a little one and he was good enough to let me take photos of him. Eventually I will catch a big one and take photos…

believe it or not, these fellas will eat black widows. I saw one jump on a widow and bite into it one time. The Widow never had a chance.

poke…poke…poke…*I did this in my friends yearbook…..only it was “meow”…He thought it’d be funny freshman year to write the meow mix song consisting of all meows in my yearbook, so I got him back by doing progressively longer “Meow, meow, meow….” in his yearbook each year….Senior year I got in 5 whole pages…. 😈 😈 *It’s easier to do here because of cut and paste….with the year book I had to do it all by hand…*

these little spiders are EVERY WHERE! we catch them and feed them to the lizerds we catch.
this one was hanging out on his web at the corner of the railing in front of my house.

I’ve moved back to my room downstairs, and I discovered spiders took over! Now, I used to be the type of person who let bugs and spiders outside, but I’m so sick of the feeling that there are cobwebs everywhere and spiders crawling on a carpet that’s a colour that makes them hard to see that I’ve just been smushing the buggars!

I have no idea what they are, they’re so effing generic I wouldn’t know how to start identifying them. Brown, tiny body, looooooooooooooong spindly legs. I take wolf spiders over these guys any day. (I actually usually have no problem with wolf spiders in the house.)

It’s funny that this thread got bumped not only because of my spider infestation but the fact I was talking with someone about one of the ugliest bugs in Southern California- the Jerusalem Cricket aka the potato bug.

                        Really just kinda freakish.

Aw, I am glad this thread got bumped up. It has been buried since Nirana hasn’t been around. Those are ugly bugs, but they aren’t the same as our potatoe bugs here. And I heard on the news that the spiders and bugs are going to infest the houses because of the heat. It has been around 100 degrees here. And we are infested with earwigs. Yuck, I hate those guys.
