The Brown Colored Dragons

Can anyone tell me what year the color brown was retired? It appears I have 3 dragons from the “old brown” collection and would like to know when they were made and when the color was retired. I have a hatchling, a mother and a male. Is it correct that you can’t go by the years stamped on them?

Thanks much. I’m new to Windstone. I just inherited these.

caldonThe old browns were retired in 1993. The date stamped on them is the copyright date. That is the date the sculpture was made, so all the male dragons will have that same date on them regardless of when they were painted.
It is possible to tell by looking a it, if it is one of the very old ones. The oldest ones were more monotone brown, and didn’t have grey felt pads on the bottom. The more recent ones are more orange colored,
and have a grey Windstone pad on the bottom.
