My dad and fiancee wanted to see Harold and Kumar, so we went.
$70 (for 5 people) later, we finally get to the anticipated theater. But alas, tragedy struck! My purse hit the pop I had ordered and sent it spilling all over the floor. However, I had ordered the large size which comes with free refills. So I grab my cup and go to get my refill.
I never made it to the concession stand. I slipped, then tripped on the stairs, and was sent sprawling. I landed on an exposed bolt, which tore open my hand.
So me, Colin, and the roommate rush to the concession stand, where we yelled for a first aid kit. We got IGNORED! Stupid underpaid workers. After yelling more, we get told (sarcastically) that they indeed have NO first aid kit – though they have a small amount of gauze.
I almost fainted after the adrenaline wore off, but that feeling lasted a whole 5 mins.
So we go to the hospital, me and Colin wait for 5 hours, and I get to have 3 stitches in.
I am mad that the theater had no first aid kit! That’s illegal, isn’t it?? That and they had exposed sharp bolts! They should have bolted into the floor, not bolted up…
Augh. At least all my pyo’s are in the mail, so I’m not tempted to paint yet.
I might be off for a couple of days – typing with one hand is kinda annoying, and operating the mouse with an injury is also annoying. If you need to tell me something, either respond or pm me.
(Don’t worry mmloda I should still be able to do the kirin unless I get it in the next 2 days, which will probably not happen… bad that it was my dominant hand though!)
Oh we got our money back!!! π
May 18, 2008 at 4:48 pm #495464May 18, 2008 at 4:59 pm #704381Ouch! That wasn’t good. Glad to hear you are relatively okay and hope you heal up soon.
May 18, 2008 at 5:45 pm #704382holy lawsuit batman!!!!! geez i hope that heals up for you soon! ouch a boo-boo to the hand hand which is so sensitive and used all the time must be a bugger! take it easy out there!
you should send that theater the E.R. bill! there is NO excuse for a theater to have anything that could even vaguely be considered a tripping hazard, as people are constantly going in and out of darkened rooms with adjusting, movie bleary eyes. there in no reason why you should have to be watching out for stuff to trip and impale yourself on! feel better soon! πMay 18, 2008 at 5:45 pm #704383You should also get reimbursement for your medical bills, and the theatre also ought to throw in free movie tickets for a movie of your choice for the future.
I would call the manager on Monday and have a serious discussion about this incident, the fact that they have no First Aid kit, which all businesses MUST have, and that you were seriously injured and the staff had no training on how to handle it and ignored the situation at first.
This is a serious issue, they need to address it immediately.
Don’t leave it where it is now, follow up.

May 18, 2008 at 5:49 pm #704384Sounds like you may be able to buy as many Windstones as you would like soon!
May 18, 2008 at 5:49 pm #704385here is the law in Ottawa that states they needa first aid kit and what must be in it , im sure it would go for Edmonton Alberta as well ,
i would also sue the person that wanted to see harold and Kumar , even if you didnt get hurt it would have been a waste of 84 mins of your life π

Definately follow it up! At the very least there should have been an incident report written up when it happened. If they don’t do anything about it, report them to you better business bureau. It would suck for them to lose their accreditation (presuming they currently have it).May 18, 2008 at 6:17 pm #704387Necron99 wrote:i would also sue the person that wanted to see harold and Kumar , even if you didnt get hurt it would have been a waste of 84 mins of your life π
π
Yes, def follow up. Mention some OSHA regulations and get some lifetime free tickets! π Stupid employees need to be fired.
IF I ever sued for something like this, it wouldnt be for (a whole lot) of money… I would ask that they fire the morons. And then get free lifetime tickets. π

And pay your medical expenses…that’s important…medical bills get expensive fast. My son’s 6 stitches cost over $700, and that was just an hour of the ER’s time.

KyrinOh yes, that too. Thats where the ‘some’ money comes in. For the bills and some pain and suffering, etc.
May 18, 2008 at 6:37 pm #704390you dont have to tell me twice about medical bills , i have one framed for 34,000 π … thats just doctor costs not room and board and meds
May 18, 2008 at 6:54 pm #704391Definitely illegal and irresponsible on their part! Check with the manager.
As for the medical bills, if you do get billed (which you shouldn’t, really, given our system), they should cover it.
