Yesterday afternoon, I sat outside in my reading corner, well, reading. Husband came home, we had dinner, etc., etc.

This late morning, I’m looking around for my book and can’t find it. Sure enough, I forgot it outside. I’ve NEVER forgotten a book outside before. Of course, the first time I do, it rains. A lot. Like, 2-3 thunderstorms rain.

I have maybe 50 pages to read and I’m done. Guess it’s gonna have to wait until the poor soggy thing is drier…

        Yup, that was dumb.

Probably too late now, but for next time… and there will be a next time… get a roll of paper towels, tear off all the towels and stack them up, then interleave each page of the soggy book with a paper towel. Then forget about the book for a week.

The pages will be wrinkled, but otherwise will be fine. If you are really desperate you could iron the pages.

The problem with not separating the pages as soon as possible is that they are likely to stick together as the book dries.

          No, no, nononooooooo!

I pressed with with a heavier book, hoping the pages wouldn’t wrinkle too much. After reading your message, I checked and flipped through it, and it seems ok.

It was a brand new book, too. Never read it before. Sigh!

I’m sorry about your book, but that is pretty funny. 😆

I did that once when I was just a little kid… left one of my picture books outside in a “fort” me and my brothers made with a bunch of cut tree branches. I was so distraught over it that I hardly ever took my books outside again until high school 😆

Could have been worse, you could have dropped your father in law’s hardback copy of The Talisman into the tub. I did that, had to replace it. At least he was understanding when I brought him the replacement instead of his original. He has one of those embossing things, so he knew it wasn’t his original copy, but I had told him that already.

I also had my husband leave my entire Magic:TG collection outside in the pouring rain, he had rearranged the shed and hadn’t put everything back yet. Over 3000 cards, toast. I haven’t had the heart to go through what I have left that wasn’t left out to find out for sure if I lost my Shivans, Nightmare, and the other few really rare ones I treasured.

At least you can still read the book.

Gawd, Kirin, I feel for you! I’m a fanatic about my books. My brother had those cards for a long time, so I know what you mean. 3000? Ouch, ouch, ouch!!!!
