well, its been a little bit since i posted any new stuff.. i have a bunch in the works but these guys i recently finished. i was commissioned by dcc1961 to do a wicked looking black with red dragon, a real devilish fellow, as naughty as one of these little cuties can be, so this is what i came up with. she wanted him to be a very black dragon, but with definite red and a little pop of purple. i managed to mix up a real saucy blood red, yet still a little metallic, so i’ll be using more of that for sure.
[img]of course i have this guy too, the black magic griff to match the dragon from a bit ago. he is up on ebay now if anyone is interested, i think it ends sunday night.

[/img]so that is what i have managed to finish as of late..i hope y’all like!! i have a bunch more started, but it takes me forever to do these between work and domestics, etc. >.< its such a tease, i just want to do these all day long and there are quite i few i want to do for myself too. sheesh. i envy all that melody manages to get done, she is needed so many places and she still gets it all done everywhere, from painting poads to sculpting new pyos and production pieces to careful lawyer proceedings! wow! what a woman!! 😳
July 13, 2007 at 2:09 am #491920July 13, 2007 at 2:45 am #599050I think the black/red dragon is beautiful. The shade of red is stunning, and the hints of purple are intriguing. Very nice.
July 13, 2007 at 3:34 am #599051wow. that dragon is stunning. i really love that shade of red with the black. the gryph is great, too. the feathers on its chest really make it stand out. i hope it sells well on ebay.
July 13, 2007 at 11:35 am #599052That griffin is…AWESOME!!!! *swoons in chair*
July 13, 2007 at 12:17 pm #599053They’re both beautiful. You did a good job of making the dragon look evil. 😀
July 13, 2007 at 12:50 pm #599054I really like them both 😀 That red on the dragon is gorgeous!
July 13, 2007 at 4:36 pm #599055Wow. 😯 Gorgeous.
July 13, 2007 at 5:30 pm #599056Oh thank you for doing the black and red dragon. I am working one one with those colors for a friend and been lacking ideas on how to paint it. I was having problems because he wanted the dragon to have green eyes. I still don’t think green eyes do with black and red, but it’s what he wanted. This gives me some ideas of what I can do now.
July 13, 2007 at 6:48 pm #599057Wow the dragon is soooo glossy! 😀
July 13, 2007 at 7:26 pm #599058Oooh read and black so pretty!
The Griffin is something special!I Would love an Old Warrior one day.. any Old Warrior!
July 14, 2007 at 12:00 am #599059I like the black and red combo on the dragon and I saw the griffin on ebay. They are very nice.
July 14, 2007 at 12:16 am #599060I like both, but especially the dragon, he is very cool!
July 15, 2007 at 5:47 pm #599061hey thanks folks! glad you like! i had to kind of sit and think for a little in order to paint him to look a little wicked…. normally i try to make them look nice or magical, so they are a little more universally appealing. it was nice for a change to do a little something different! i like having commissions because such totally different ideas get brought to the table- its refreshing!
yes, he is very glossy! we played it down in the pics too, so the paint job could be seen, but he has a real wet look to him. i was up in the air about it with the black, because it looked sharp very matte, but then the red areas HAD to be glossy to make the color work right (couple layers of different paints).it almost looked cool half glossy /half matte, but i opted for all glossy for uniformitys’ sake. next i am making his sibling in black and deep greens for his momma, so she can have the coordinating pair. 🙂
as for the griff, he ends tonight, so if anyone wants to take a stab at him, knock yourself out! 😉
i’ll add pics on here in a couple days of another commission dragon i just finished- this one is a real trip with the colors and a bugger to paint…. i just need the final approval from his daddy! 🙂July 15, 2007 at 5:49 pm #599062That dragon is really well done, but the griffin steals the show for me. Very pretty.
